Empress Lenore was once the main ruler of the Jennerit Empire. But she was betrayed by her Right-Hand, Rendain. The Jennerit unlocked the secret to aging about 20,000 years ago, they call this process “Sustainment”. Rendain has been Sustained for most of that 20,000 years and has gotten very good in the art-of-war. As Randain betrayed the Empress he pushed her to the side and took over the reigns himself. The Empire became an “Imperium,” and Rendain joined with the Varelsi in darkening the stars.

No official details have been given out about this character. Besides making a video about the topic i also wrote an article about this discovery. On a stranger note the official Battleborn and 2K games social media channels have been posting my video.
UPDATE: 01/01/2016
The character seen in this video is confirmed to be Deande, but there is still the piece of gear that could point out that Empress Lenore is in the game. If this is simply lore or still proof of her being a playable hero is yet to be seen. There is an personal log file from Deande, suggesting the whereabouts of the empress. But this could indicate that Empress Lenore won’t be unlocked early in the game if she is a playable hero.

As Attikus is announced the roster of 5 heroes per faction is complete. So Empress Lenore won’t be a playable hero unless Gearbox decides to add her as a DLC character if that’s possible story wise.
UPDATE: 05/13/2016
Gearbox Software & 2K Games said they will be doing 5 additional heroes. They even showed off some concept art at PAX. Rendain clearly said at the start of the game that the Empress is not dead even though everyone seems to think she is. So the return of Empress Lenore, back from the Void ? Because if we look at the right of the artwork there is some Jennerit going on there.

During the course of a gameplay session your Battleborn will earn experience points by taking down enemies or complete challenges. By earning enough XP Points your Hero will level up and gets presented a choice between two different augmentations in the Helix skill tree. Per level you can only choose one of these skills to enhance your character’s abilities.
