What happens to FL4K after the events of Borderlands 3 and how can Gearbox Software level up the gameplay in Borderlands 4? Because the developers are always looking for ways to level up their games and how you interact with them. But they also try and bring back fan-favorite characters into the next game. Which role could FL4K serve that helps progress the new Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4?
FL4K Crew Challenge
FL4K is all about “the hunt” and therefore could easily take over the crew challenges of Zer0 or Sir Hammerlock. Only this time, FL4K sends you on a quest to hunt down a target. While this could certainly be possible, it’s not really an interesting way to insert FL4K into the next game and you would need to find a different role for the other character. Therefore, I have an interesting suggestion that could elevate the game and have a meaningful role for FL4K.
FL4K’s Pets
FL4K is also known as the BeastMaster, what if they have a shop like Marcus but instead of purchasing weapons you can get your own pet that assists you throughout the game?
Gearbox Software changed the Grenade Mod Slot from Borderlands to a Magic Spell Slot in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. This resulted in Magic Spells having a cooldown and becoming more of a second skill.
What if the slot for Grenade Mods became this Utility slot? Zane could use 2 action skills in Borderlands 3 and the Spellshot could use 2 Magic Spells in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Why not expand on that and let you select a companion?
Your companion will constantly be present and assist you in battle. They would have a powerful attack with a cooldown that you can trigger to justify sacrificing the grenade slot.
Companions
FL4K’s Pet Shop could feature various beasts. Borderlands 3 already had a Jabber, Spiderant, and Skag. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands had a Mushroom, Floating Demon, and a pet Dragon.
Borderlands 4 could expand upon this by adding even more companions. Because FL4K could also master an ION Loader in Borderlands 3. This would mean that Bots and Drones are also in the realm of possibilities. Although, I wouldn’t mind if FL4K would team up with Gaige for the robotic division.
