Vex is a playable Vault Hunter and known as the Dark Siren class in Borderlands 4. She can phasecast physical beings into existence, and while her Vault Hunter trait lets her switch elemental damages on the fly, she is the first Siren that focuses on Kinetic damage and life steal.
About
Vex had a rough upbringing that was made more complicated by receiving her Siren powers. Her cynical and sarcastic demeanor comes from having to fend for herself and scrape for everything she’s got. But underneath her salty exterior, Vex is an empath who knows better than anyone how much life can suck. Ever the pessimist, Vex still believes in helping others. And if helping others means dealing damage to oppressive jerks, Vex will always be first in line.
Action Skills
Incarnate
Vex creates a Phase Explosion, dealing Damage to nearby enemies and fully restoring her Health. While active, Vex can use Eldritch Blast and gains increased Movement Speed.
Eldritch Blast: Press L1 to fire an Eldrich Blast from her offhand, dealing Damage to nearby enemies on impact. Dealing Gun Damage reduces Eldrich Blast’s Cooldown.
Press and Old L1 to end Incarnate early, partially refunding cooldown.
- Cooldown: 55 Seconds
- Duration: 25 Seconds
Phase Phamiliar
Vex is joined by her Minion, Trouble. When killed, Trouble will Repawn after a cooldown.
Press L1 to teleport Trouble, dealing Damage in an area. Trouble then transforms into a Badass, fully restoring Health and gaining increased Damage for a Duration.
Activating Phase Phamiliar will Respawn Trouble if currently dead.
- Cooldown: 45 Seconds
- Duration: 20 Seconds
Dead Ringer
Dead Ringer is an Action Skill with multiple charges that allows Vex to summon reapers and specters. Phase Reapers taunt enemies to draw aggro and use a scythe to slash enemies. Specters specialize in damage and shoot enemies with a gun, but they are pretty fragile.
One class mod gives Specters a copy of your gear.

Vault Hunter Traits
- Phase Covenant
- Vex is Attuned to the Elemental Type of her current Gun, converting all Action Skill and Melee Damage into that type.
Notes
- The trailer shows her performing a powerful forward-moving shockwave. I think this is an augment for the Incarnate Action Skill, as she also uses her wings in this move.
- Phasereaper might be one of the deathly minions she can summon instead of Trouble (the tiger companion)
- Phase Covenant was shown off on Vex’s companion, but also works on the death orbs and the phase reapers/specters she can cast.

Trivia
- Voice Actor: …
- Character Artist: …
- Fans initially thought Vex was Ava from Borderlands 3, but this was quickly dismissed by Gearbox Software. Then, fans speculated about her being Emily Swan from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
- Trouble is named after Nick Thurston’s (BL4 Lead Game Designer) own cat. His other cat is named Nisha, but that name is already taken in the Borderlands franchise.
