About the Borderlands 1 Vault Hunters
The first Borderlands game has 4 playable characters to choose from. Brick, Lilith, Mordecai, and Roland are the original Vault Hunters.
Each hero has their own unique action skill and a distinct skill tree that lets them level up their abilities.
You gain Experience Points (XP) by completing missions and defeating enemies. Your character will level up if you gain enough XP and you will be rewarded with 1 Skill Point. You can then spend that token in your character’s talent tree to enhance one of their skills.
While the Borderlands 1 Skill Trees often lean towards a specific weapon type, you can wield any weapon type in the game.
Your character will become more proficient in a specific weapon type if you use it more often. Your weapon proficiency will result in better reload speed, accuracy, and other weapon buffs.
Players can duel each other if they melee each other. Then they can fight for specific loot or money.
Vault Hunter Skill Trees
You will unlock your Action Skill at LVL 5 and after that, you can spend your Skill Points on one of the tree skill tree branches. Each branch contains 3 tiers and each tier contains 2 skills. You need to spend 5 points into a tier before you can move on to the next set of skills.
Each branch of your Skill Tree also contains 1 Capstone Skill that augments your ability in a powerful way. These Capstone Skills are game-changers and you should carefully craft your character build around them.
- Passive Skills: These boosts are always active.
- Kill Skills: These boosts are only active for a limited time after killing an enemy.
- Capstone: These end-tier skills provide your character with a new ability.
Level Cap
The Borderlands 1 level cap for the base game was originally LVL50, however, with patch 1.4.1, Gearbox Software added 8 free Skill Points. You can earn more Skill Points in the DLCs and raise the maximum level cap up to LVL69!
