Boss Description
Shiv is technically the first Boss in Borderlands 3 who you encounter at the end of the tutorial, however, Mouthpiece is the first real boss fight in the game that new players struggle with. Shiv is the self-described “Holy Influencer” of the Children of the Vault and brought a knife to a gunfight.
Shiv is located in the Covenant Pass on the planet Pandora. When you fast travel to this location you have to through the tutorial section. However, you can also fast-travel to ‘The Droughts’ and then walk back to the gateway that leads back to Covenant Pass. You will enter the area in the room behind the boss fight.
You can farm Shiv for these legendary weapons as it is the dedicated loot source for these items. Shiv has a 15% legendary drop chance but you have to be LVL11 or higher before he starts dropping his legendaries.
Shiv Guide
Since Shiv is the first boss in the game he isn’t all that hard. He carries a massive sword and that’s his main attack. So if you keep your distance and aim for his head to score critical hits, you should be able to take him down. Occasionally, Shiv will perform a slam attack. He will jump up in the air and will slam the ground, this will send a shockwave towards you. However, if you just keep strafing to the sides, you can easily dodge these. Another attack that Shiv has is a spin attack, just stay back and you have nothing to worry about. Shoot the barrels in the arena when Shiv is standing next to one.
