This setup rests on the “Overkill” perk in your Guardian Rank and utilizes that with Amara’s “Ties That Bind” Action Skill. Single-shot weapons work best with Overkill, however, if you are having a hard time achieving that you can get the damage going by swapping up weapons like the Clairvoyance.
