Borderlands 3 DLC 3 Teased

During the Gearbox Main Theather Show at PAX East 2020, Randy Pitchford showed off concept art for the 3rd Borderlands 3 DLC. The concept art shows two figures, wearing cowboy hats, wielding revolvers and riding dinosaurs. Because the presentation was all about the second story campaign addon Randy didn’t reveal a lot. Yet it was fun to receive a sneak peek of Borderlands 3’s third campaign add-on, which will arrive this Summer. Randy did give a hint of the theme; Outlaws and Dinosaurs.

Randy also explicitly mentioned iconic spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars as an inspiration during his presentation. A film directed by Sergio Leone, who is widely regarded as one of the most influential directors in the history of cinema. Leone’s film-making style includes juxtaposing extreme close-up shots with lengthy long shots. A Fistful of Dollars introduced the world to Clint Eastwood in his first leading role. He rose to international fame with his role as the Man with No Name. (A Fistful of Dollars Trailer)

In conjunction with the announcements Gearbox Staff members also did interviews with the media. On Powerup-Gaming we find that Anthony Nicholson, Gearbox’s Head of DLC Production, mentioned he is excited for DLC3 because of “really strong Western vibes“.

DLC 3 Speculation

So we got the hints “Outlaws and Dinosaurs” and “really strong Western vibes“. The Western-Theme does make me thing about Jakobs weaponry since they have an old-west design. This makes me think that this story campaign addon could take place on Eden-6. We already got Jakobs estate and all on that planet and it’s even crawling with “dinosaurs”. However, if I’m thinking about western movies they all take place in the desert. Pandora would make more sense from that perspective, although, we didn’t encounter a lot of Raptor/T-rex looking dinos there.

Looking at the concept art, I can imagine Salvador from Borderlands 2 rocking that outfit. And while we are going with the dinosaurs theme, Salvador is a Sexual Tyrannosaurus.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we see Clay return in this DLC. He was a cool character in the main story campaign and is already rocking a sweet western look.

Also, now I want to ride dinos in Borderlands 3.

What do you think the third story campaign addon will be, let me know in the comments below.
