Gearbox Software and 2K Games posted a teaser on Social Media that has fans wondering what to expect from the Borderlands franchise. Because there is a message on the Borderlands Social Media Channels that states; “Hope you’re ready for this, killer.“
The post is accompanied by a video of Lilith doing a blown kiss and then giving the finger. This is a clip from the Borderlands 3 E3 2019 Trailer but the overall message has fans hyped up for an announcement.
Analysis
Nothing to see move on…
The lamest interpretation of this social media post would be that the text simply reflects the clip. So are you ready for Lilith’s taunt? The Borderlands Social has been doing weird posts and Motivational Monday posts for a while.
Borderlands 4 Tease
A big contender would be a Borderlands 4 announcement, however, most creditable creators don’t expect that game for at least another year.
Borderlands Movie Trailer
Another option would be the Borderlands Movie, which seems possible, however, then I wonder why the @BorderlandsFilm social channel wasn’t attached to this post. And I would assume that the movie studio, Lionsgate, has some stakes in this and would be leading the marketing of this project.
New (Spin-off) Game or DLC
It’s no secret that Gearbox Software is working on multiple games of which 5 are from existing IP. It would be possible that there is a smaller Borderlands project but that would be a first. I’m not expecting a New Tales From the Borderlands 2 and a Borderlands 3 DLC also doesn’t make sense to me. Although, Borderlands 3 fans have wanted a new Takedown for a while.
Remaster a Classic
Borderlands fans were hoping for a Borderlands 2 remaster last year when that game celebrated its 10-year anniversary. While that didn’t happen, the idea still lingers in the community. Personally, I don’t get why Gearbox would do that as they released the UHD Packs for both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel that upgraded the textures and meshes.
