The 5th DLC package for Borderlands 3 is called the Designer’s Cut. This add-on contains new skill trees for each of the Vault Hunter and a new standalone game mode. Designer’s Cut requires a copy of Borderlands 3 to play and can be purchased individually or as part of Season Pass 2.

New skill trees

All the Vault Hunters are getting 1 additional skull tree each. This purple-colored skill tree provides new ways to play the game and fills up some of the gaps that Vault Hunter was missing.

Amara’s ‘Enlightened Force’ skill tree comes with the Phaseflare action skill. While Amara’s other action skills are one and done attacks, Phaseflare summons an elemental orb. You can punch this wrecking ball across the battlefield or recall it forward yourself. Phaseflare deals damage on impact but also deals area-of-effect damage.

FL4K’s ‘Trapper’ skill tree comes with the gravity snare action skill and a loader bot pet. The gravity snare provides FL4K with a crowd control ability as it knocks up enemies within its range. The trapper tree focuses on survivability for FL4K and their pet.

Moze’s ‘Bear Mother’ skill tree comes with Iron Cub. This is a mini-Iron Bear that you can summon upon the field. It will follow you around and attack enemies on its own. Iron Cub has 1 hard point and therefore you will only be able to choose 1 weapon type but it actually equips 2 outed them. The Bear Mother tree wants you to deal elemental damage to extend and boost yourself and Iron Cub.

Zane’s ‘The Professional’ skill tree comes with a shoulder mounted cannon. Unlike Zane’s other action skills you can really spam this one as it has a short cooldown. This fire and forget skill opens up new ways for you to play Zane as the ‘on action skill end’ anointments are now also viable for Zane. The professional skill tree also provides you the opportunity to play as sniper zane.

New Game Mode

The new stand-alone game mode is called Arms Race. It will be revealed on October 29 and fully shown on October 30, 2020. From what I have heard is that this new game mode takes influences of battle royale games but it’s not a battle footage royale game. Randy Pitchford mentioned that folks who enjoy mechanics like that can find that in Arms Race.

More info will be revealed during episode 8 of the Borderlands Show, which is scheduled to premiere on October 29th, 2020. I’ll update this article as soon as I know more. Hopefully, we also get the prize for the DLC and second season pass.
