Borderlands 3 DLC 4 Reveal Incoming

Update August 20, 2020

Gearbox Software and 2K Games just announced they will be revealing the 4th Story Campaign Add-On for Borderlands 3 on August 25. The big reveal will be done during a special episode of the BorderCast with the crew of the Borderlands Show. There will also be a developer interview regarding DLC4. I’m very excited to see this showcase.

There is a high chance that we will get to see the 4th Story Campaign Add-on for Borderlands 3 next week. During the closing segment of this week’s BorderCAST episode, Mitsu gave us a big tease. Because next week’s episode will be a crossover episode between the BorderCAST and The Borderlands Show. On top of that, they will have an exclusive interview that you don’t want to miss.

BorderCast & Borderlands Show Crossover

The BorderCAST is a weekly podcast by Mitsu and Tessachka. They talk about the state of the game, current activities, and trends in the Borderlands community. Gearbox Software visits them when relatively smaller content drops are added to the game. That said these updates can have a big impact on the state of the game. However, for the big DLC’s 2K Games broadcasts The Borderlands Show. During these shows, Gregg Miller and Fran Mirabella from Kinda Funny Games really do a deep dive into the upcoming content. And there is always a GBX developer present to tell us everything you need to know.

Throughout the last several months we have seen members of the BorderCast join the Borderlands Show. Next week it will be the other way around. This fusion and the emphasis that Mitsu addresses, makes me believe that we are in for a BIG REVEAL. The next big thing on the Borderlands 3 Roadmap is DLC4.

DLC4 Krieg Unleashed

There is still 1 mode story campaign add-on in the season pass. Randy Pitchford hinted at Going inside the mind of the most badass psycho on Pandora (Krieg) during the Gearbox Main Theater show at PAX East 2020. Also, a new teaser for DLC4 was shown during episode 7 of the Borderlands Show. Here you saw an image featuring Krieg but the artwork has 2 contrasting sides. The left side is calm but the right side is at chaos. This also reflects the calm inner voice inside Krieg and the chaotic Psycho voice on the outside.

A noteworthy thing to point out is that the calm left side uses light blue colors. A color you could associate with Maya. You probably know that Krieg and Maya had a thing going from listening to these EchoLogs in Borderlands 3.

An other interesting thing came in the form of a quote from Sam Winkler, he is one of the main writers at Gearbox Software. His tweet added to the whole split in contrast in the DLC 4 teaser image. “YOU WILL NOT RIP THE MEAT MAN FROM THE SMALL MAN”.

These make me think we will see a struggle between the 2 sides of Krieg and how they deal with the loss of Maya. We previously saw Tiny Tina go through a similar experience in Borderlands 2. Where we got to experience her playing a game of Bunkers & Badasses her friends and deal with the loss of Roland. I know “everyone” wants another DLC like that because it was phenomenal. The setting was great, the story was meaning full, and it turned the Borderlands toybox upside down.

Year 2 Beyond DLC 4

Another thing we might hear something about is Year 2 of Borderlands 3. A little while ago Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software, announced that additional content, beyond the Season Pass, is coming to Borderlands 3. He mentioned this during Ki11erSix’s live stream on July 23, 2020. They were not ready to give out all the details back then, however, Randy did mention they were almost ready to talk about it. Since some time has passed and the Season Pass is coming to its end, it seems like a good time to talk about the future of Borderlands and what the community can expect.

With the tease of more DLC coming to BL3 and the Borderlands creator team expanding, I think there is a bright future for the game in store for us. I’m excited to hear what they got in store for us. Therefore, I asked my good friend Scott who works at 2K, if it’s a good time to be a borderlands fan.
