Borderlands 3 Raid Boss
FINALLY, we are getting a RAID BOSS. This is something the Borderlands community wanted for a long time. An invisible boss that you can farm and doesn’t require you to run through a whole stage like the takedowns. While those are fun and have an Invincible boss at the end, the community desired a classic raid boss. So with the Director’s cut, Gearbox Software is adding a raid boss to the game.
Hemivorous the Invincible
Hemivorous the Invisible is a giant Varkid and is located at Ascension Bluff on Pandora. It is locked behind “THE DOOR”. The door? YES, THE DOOR!!! Because since the launch of Borderlands 3 there is an area that is inaccessible to you. Oke some of you have attempted to get inside, even fewer have made actually made it inside. Yes, you could grab a vehicle and jump across the cliff but after 1,5 years, the door finally opens.
Well, actually it doesn’t open on itself. You will need to pay 500 Eridium to gain access to Hemivorous’s lair. But before you can do that, you first have to finish the story campaign. Because Hemivorous is end game content and it will scale from LVL35 to Max Level depending on where your Vault Hunter is at.
Hemivorous is designed to challenge you in a different way. We were told by Gearbox that they wanted to do something else than what they have done in the past. So will your character build hold up?

New Lair
Looking at the footage that was shown during Episode 9 of the Borderlands show, you can see that the section of the map has been redesigned. This might be because some folks already managed to bypass the door. But the footage we have seen pre-launch was of an early build. Gearbox thought they could get it into the game but it needed more refinement. Therefore it got cut, however, with the Director’s Cut they could return to this idea and give it the attention it needed. Not just get it working but make it fit today’s standards. Because Borderlands 3 has evolved since its launches Gearbox added so much content to it.
Invincible Boss Fight
- Hemivorous the Invisible is a giant Varkid and has raid boss mechanics.
- In de footage we see it attack the players by creating puddles of acid on the floor.
- Hemivorous is spitting out a ton of Varkid pods that will hatch. If you don’t deal with them these bugs can evolve into badass versions of themselves.
- Hemivorous the Invisible can also stomp the ground and create a shockwave that will shake up the ground and it will launch up spikes towards you.
- This Giant Varkid can bury itself underground.
- There are some ammo crates in the boss arena.
Borderlands 3 The Directors Cut
Hemivorous the Invisible is part of Borderlands 3 the Director’s Cut, which comes out on March 18, 2021, and will be available individually or as part of Season Pass 2. The Director’s Cut also includes Ava’s Murder Mysteries, 3 Vault Cards, and a lot of behind-the-scenes content.
