Gearbox Software and 2K Games announced that Borderlands 4 is now available for Pre-Order and that there are 3 different editions of the game. In this Borderlands 4 Buyer’s Guide, I’m going to break down what the differences are between the editions and give you my perspective on what to expect.

Borderlands 4 Pre-Order Bonus
You will receive the Gilded Glory Pack when you Pre-Order Borderlands 4. This package contains a Vault Hunter Skin, a Weapon Skin, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin.
This Pre-Order bonus will be available as a paid Cosmetics pack after the game’s launch.
I like that this cosmetic pack is themed around the Timekeeper’s appearance. You have a overall classy white look with golden highlights. It’s nice but you aren’t missing out when you don’t want to pre-order.
Bounty Pack Bundle
The Bounty Pack Bundle is part of the (Super) Deluxe Edition and provides 4 post-launch DLCs that enrich your Vault Hunting experience.
- 4 Unique areas with new missions and unique bosses.
- 4 Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards.
- New Gear and weapons
- 4 new Vehicles with cosmetics
- New Vault Hunter Cosmetics.
The Bounty Pack Bundle, and the individual DLC packs that make up the bundle, will also be available for separate purchase at launch.
This sounds like the playable content from Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut but for Borderlands 4, where they linked a playable area to a Borderlands 3 Vault Card. I expect 1 DLC from this bundle to release every ~3 months. It’s a good package to keep you playing throughout the year.
UPDATE: GBX has confirmed that these are like the Borderlands 2 Head Hunter Packs with a Vault Card.
Firehawk’s Fury
The Firehawk’s Fury contains 1 weapon skin that provides your gun with a flaming skin and Lilith’s Firehawk Icon.
Sweet bonus cosmetic for the fans if you purchase the (super) deluxe edition. It would have been nice if it also contained a Vault Hunter Skin and ECHO Skin in this style.
Vault Hunter Pack
The Vault Hunter Pack is part of the Super Deluxe Edition and provides 2 post-launch DLCs that expand your Vault Hunting journey.
- 2 New Playable Vault Hunters
- 2 New map regions
- New Story Missions & Side Missions
- New Gear and Weapons
- New Vault Hunter Cosmetics
- New Echo-4 Cosmetics
The Vault Hunter Pack, and the individual DLC packs that make up the bundle, will also be available for separate purchase at launch.
This sounds like the big DLCs we expect from a Borderlands game. Kairos has 4 regions and the Vault Hunter Pack looks to expand that with additional regions. I expect 1 region + 1 Vault Hunter every ~6 months.
UPDATE: GBX confrimed these are 2 big story campaigns
Ornate Order Pack
These are the bonus cosmetics if you purchased the Borderlands 4: Super Deluxe Edition.
- 4 Vault Hunter Skins
- 4 Vault Hunter Heads
- 4 Vault Hunter Bodies
Great to see new Vault Hunter bodies as these really change up the character design beyond a new coat of paint.
Conclusion
Everyone expected Borderlands 4 to cost 80 dollars; therefore, I’m happily surprised it costs 70 dollars.
The BL4 Deluxe Edition seems like a better deal than the BL3 Deluxe Edition as it looks you are getting more content; however, with BL3 you received all the bonus skins on day 1, with BL4 it will be spread out.
I know fans will love the fact that we are getting new playable Vault Hunters. I always liked that we received 4 new campaign addons, as I’m also more of a person who sticks with 1 character, but if you are replaying the whole game with a new hero, you’ve got a ton of content ahead of you.
I think you are getting value no matter which version you buy. On top of that, Gearbox Software is also releasing free post-launch content for Borderlands 4.
- Base Game = $70
- Deluxe = $100
- 100 – 70 = 30
- 30 : 4 DLCs = $7.5 per DLC (1 Headhunter DLC + 1 Vault Card) (Not counting the Firehawk Weapon Skin)
- Super Deluxe = $130
- 130 – 100 = 30
- 30 : 5 = $6 per DLC (1 Story Campaign or 1 Vault Hunter or 1 Premium Skin Pack)
- Note: the Vault Hunter Pack consists of 2 DLCs, so 1 Vault Hunter + 1 Story DLC per DLC.
- Note: The Ornate Order Pack is something they could sell for $6
- The BL3 Multiverse Final Form Cosmetic-packs were sold for $10 per Vault Hunter

Im pissed off the collector’s edition doesnt come with anything that the super deluxe edition does
MentalMars
They renamed it so it’s technically not “The Collector’s Edition” any more. By not adding a game, you are free to choose which version of the game you want. During the BL2 days, those chests came with a game for a specific platform. So it’s more flexible for the customer but also the publisher. That said, the ECHO-4 Edition isn’t cheap
