Besides going hands-on with Borderlands 4, some creators had the chance to interview the developers. I watched them all, and these are the ones you should check out!

Gear and Build focused interviews by Moxsy
Moxsy was able to interview Borderlands 4’s Creative Director, Graeme Timmens, about the game during a Borderlands 4 Preview event.
While the topic End Game was off-limits, I think we still got a glimpse of some of the things, and Moxsy has great questions that build enthusiasts care about.
- Will Mayhem Scaling return, and are Action Skill and Melee Builds still viable at End Game?
- Are 100% Ordnance builds possible?
- Will builds rely on Firmware set bonuses?
- Capstone Skills work differently in BL4, do you see player swapping their Capstones for different combat scenarios?
- What were the main areas of Borderlands 3 you wanted to improve in 4?
- How has the matchmaking experience been improved for Borderlands 4?
- Is getting a Godroll still a 1 in 900 billion chance?
- How are open-world bosses going to work?
- Can we adjust the Compass?
- How will Licensed Parts impact the feel of returning legendary weapons?
Enthusiastic and insightful interview by Dantics
Dantics’ interview is more like a casual conversation, so there are many (little) topics that they talk about. Randy isn’t sugar coating and talks about the game, his experiences, and is excited to see what the community will do when they get their hands on it.
- THIS JUST IN: Radar added to Borderlands 4
- Favorite gameplay combinations with Licensed Parts and Ordnance
- Weapon balance and having fate in Borderlands 4’s Creative Director, Graeme.
- The Combat flow with new mobility options and how they could affect Speed Runs
- More freeing gameplay. Wide Linear.
- Best End Game
- Tone of the game and the pitfalls of writing Borderlands 3
Development, Direction, and Decisions Interview by GamerBraves
GamerBraves sat down with Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software, and Andrew Reiner, the studio’s Global Creative Executive Officer, for an exclusive one-on-one to dive deep into Borderlands 4. In this interview, they explore the new Borderlands experience but also how actions from the past shaped the future of the franchise.
Note: There is a section where Randy talks about how they are committed to the story and about the death of Borderlands characters, and then he says, “You will see in the game or DLC that nothing is off-limits”. I know folks speculated about time travel and getting old characters back. The way I heard it, this is leaning that way.
- Borderlands has always been known for its wild humor. In today’s politically sensitive climate, do you worry about controversy in Borderlands 4? Are you dialing back or doubling down?
- Borderlands 4 brings in the new ‘Licensed Parts’ system, letting you mix and match parts from different manufacturers. What sparked the idea for that change?
- How does this new system impact the overall feel of loot compared to past Borderlands games?
- Do you have any go-to weapons or loadouts you’re especially into while playing? The ones you always find yourself coming back to?
- Were there any wild or funny weapon ideas that didn’t make the cut but you really wanted to include?
- Borderlands 3 had players hopping between planets, but Borderlands 4 is set on just one-Kairos. What drove the decision to go with a single-world approach this time?
- Some fans felt the story in Borderlands 3 was a bit all over the place-like Gearbox was maybe going through a bit of a phase. How do you look back on that feedback now, especially from a story perspective?
