The Borderlands Community is hungry for more Borderlands 4 Content because fans were excited after PlayStation’s State of Play reveal, where we got to see some awesome things, but we are already craving for more, so when is the next big Borderlands 4 content drop you might ask.
Well Gearbox Software actually gave us a heads up on what to expect as there is going to be a special State of Play that focused exclusively on Borderlands 4 where they promised to show off the Vault Hunters and their Action Skills.
I don’t know about you, but I love to learn more about the playable characters. Then we can finally put those Emily Swan theories to rest… until Borderlands 5 gets announced.
Besides combat, we will also be learning about the world of Borderlands 4, as they highlighted, Exploration & Discovery, and I think this is where we will learn about the seamless open world they are creating and how we will navigate through it.
This all sounds cool and all but I hear you think, “when will this special showcase take place?” Well, in good ol’ marketing fashion, they announced that the Borderlands 4 exclusive State of Play will take place during “Spring”.
yeah, not very specific, therefore, I’m going to try and narrow it down because there are other big gaming events on the horizon.
Spring is from Mar 20 to Jun 21, 2025, so when the Game Developer Conference is in full swing, we then have 93 potential days for the Borderlands 4 showcase. However, we have Pax East from May 8 to 11 and Summer Games Fest on June 6. So those days are out of the question as they likely want to claim the spotlight for themselves.
If we look at the previous State of Play events, they have a history of taking place late May. This would place them between PAX East and Summer Games Fest. I’m not a PlayStation expert and therefore don’t know what they have in the pipeline, but looking at their history and if they also want to do a regular State of Play, I can see them do the Borderlands 4 exclusive showcase a bit earlier or their regular showcase a bit later.
If I look at 2023, PlayStation did a Final Fantasy XVI – State of Play in April, and if they do that for Borderlands 4 this year, it would also line up with that intense 6 months marketing campaign we are accustomed to. Then Gearbox Software had their reveal event as a Developer Deep Dive presentation and can then hit every major gaming event from then till the game’s release, like PAX, Summer Games Fest, and Gamescom.
There they can show off a new fancy trailer, but also talk about and showcase new areas as Kairos has a variety of locations. But we definitely want to hear about end game content, post-launch support, and maybe I’m curious to see if there is going to be a new Twitch Extension.
I think they would show off the new HUB town, the developer deep dive, and talk about what’s up with the story and how the timekeeper plays into that. They said we will get a look at the new guns and I think that’s going to be a constant thing because we will be seeing new guns throughout the marketing campaign, but still discover new weapons while having spent a ton of time into playing the game when it releases on September 23.
I do hope we get to see some new manufacturer traits in Borderlands 4 as that will also make the loot feel fresh and exciting again. One of the manufacturers that I think could use some love is Dahl, here are the Gun Mechanics You Never Knew You Needed.
