Fans noticed that a Photo Mode was absent from the Borderlands 4 Demo Build that creators got their hands on during Borderlands’ Fan Fest. This caused some concerns among fans, as this tool is used for more than just taking a screenshot.
Borderlands 4’s Creative Director, Graeme Timmens, jumped into the discussion, saying that Borderlands 4 will receive a Photo Mode and that this highly requested feature will be included in an update after the game’s launch.
Why Photo Mode Matters
Yes, Content Creators use it for their thumbnails, but build-crafters use the Photo Mode to check the interactions and damage numbers when creating the ultimate build, as the overlapping damage numbers can obscure the data.
I use it to create better guides for you, so I’m happy I can continue doing that, but I’m also such a tourist by snapping pretty pictures of the game, as the level design is amazing. There is a digital photography community that makes awesome and creative photos within the game world.
Why Photo Mode doesn’t ship with the game
Graeme also states that the Photo Mode was always on the things-to-do list and isn’t being added because of “fan uproar”; the creative director simply chose to prioritize polishing other elements, more core to the moment-to-moment experience, focusing on things that directly impact the Quality of Life of playing the game.
