The next installment in the Borderlands franchise, Borderlands 4, has been added to over 1 million Steam wishlists since the announcement of the upcoming game according to Gamalytics.
Gearbox Software and 2K Games announced Borderlands 4 during Gamescom 2024 with a teaser trailer that shows what happened to Pandora’s moon, Elpis, at the end of Borderlands 3. In that same trailer, which has been viewed over 3 million times, the publisher intensifies their audience to wishlist Borderlands 4 on their platform of choice as the game is set to release in 2025.
While we can only track the Steam numbers, Borderlands 4 can also be added to a wishlist on the EPIC, PlayStation, and Xbox stores. If we look at the general gaming revenue split; 43% comes from PC gaming and 57% comes from consoles.
If a single PC platform is already reporting 1 million people wishlist-ing Borderlands 4 this could potentially mean that the number already surpassed the 2 million mark when adding the other platforms. Gearbox Software and 2K Games still have a lot of marketing to do for Borderlands 4 but if this keeps up they might surpass Borderlands 3 which shipped 5 million copies in 5 days.
We are making the best Borderlands game to date!
