Titanbooks announced that they are releasing a Borderlands novel in collaboration with Gearbox Entertainment and 2K Games. Borderlands Debt or Alive is an all-new story written by Anthony Burch and will feature Fiona and Sasha!
Anthony was the lead writer on Borderlands 2 and assisted on Borderlands the Pre-Sequel and Tales From The Borderlands. His work has been praised by many fans and therefore I think folks will have high hopes for this novel.
Back in August 2022, Randy Pitchford already alluded that they had plans for Fiona and Sasha when a fan asked if these characters would appear in New Tales From The Borderlands. I didn’t expect that we would experience their next adventure in this form but Randy has stated in the past that Gearbox Entertainment is working on more transmedia projects with established franchises.
About Borderlands Debt or Alive
In the official prequel novel to Tales From The Borderlands 2 by Gearbox and 2K Games, discover what happened to Fiona and Sasha after they entered the Vault, in this exclusive adventure tying directly into the new game.
Borderlands: Debt or Alive
The treasure of the vault hunter: unlimited possibilities, unspeakable power, untold riches…
Fiona finds herself faced with a choice, and she can only make one wish. How will she ever choos—You know what? Untold riches don’t sound so bad.
Spoiler: They are.
When Fiona and Sasha return to Pandora, equipped with only a limited-edition Typhon DeLeon Vaultlander™ doll probably worth more than the entire planet, it seems like their lives have not just turned a corner, but done a full 180 and skipped to the neighbouring galaxy. If they can sell this last piece of loot, they will be made for life. And Eden-5 is the only place with pockets deep enough.
This shiny new world run by billionaires instead of bandits is no less deadly though, and Fiona and Sasha will have to use everything they have learned to thrive and survive, and possibly maybe dabble in a tiny little bit of planetary revolution. Trouble is brewing below the glamorous exterior of Eden-5 and when a certain Mechromancer arrives at the party, ready to murder the collector buying the doll, all hell is about to break loose. This is not the cushy retirement Fiona was promised.
Borderlands Debt or Alive is set to be released in March 2024. You can order a copy from Amazon now.
I think it’s a clever name, as there is some wordplay that could also tie in with the premise of the story. I heard that Sam Winkler came up with the title, he recently leveled up to Narrative Director at Gearbox Software.
Let me know what you think about the book in the comments or on social media.
