Lionsgate released the final trailer for the Borderlands film as it’s gearing up to premiere in theaters on August 9, 2024.
The trailer starts off with the classic Marcus narration, talking about the Vault on Pandora. We quickly get introduced to Lilith (Cate Blanchett) and it looks like Atlas (Edgar Ramirez) is making her an offer in the bar.
Roland (Kevin Hart) seems to be rescuing Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt) from the Atlas Spaceship/station. Kevin is doing some close combat and I think everyone expects it to look goofy but I’m not getting that vibe. Yeah, it probably isn’t John Wick but online a lot of folks are judging Kevin Hart. The Dahl pistol that Roland uses looks great.
We kinda get a Borderlands 2 holographic galaxy map that shows the location of the Vault. I’m surprised they are going with Tiny Tina being the only one who can open the Vault.
The VFX of the Vault appearing looks cool but I don’t know if that’s something you want to show in the trailer as the Vault is a mystery.
Roland quotes Axton from Borderlands 2 in the trailer; “You get a bullet, you get a bullet, everyone gets a bullet”. This part looks a bit goofy. The VFX in this shot look like it came from a Marvel movie but I think they are trying to convey that Roland’s shield is taking damage but I personally have a different understanding of how VFX for a shield should look.
The turret Roland is shooting from looks different than the one we saw in the first trailer. It now has the Atlas Q-system design.
The shot with the explosive bunny looks awesome. The transition to the Borderlands movie logo is also neatly done!
