The Creator and Franchise Director of Borderlands, Matt Armstrong, is leaving Gearbox Software. He announced his departure by tweeting the following message:
During the “Borderlands – Behind the Scenes“, the origin story of the franchise was told and Mr. Armstrong is responsible for the birth of the Borderlands. But like the tweet states ‘things change’ and what kind of impact this will have on one of our favorite franchises has to be seen. Game Informer reached out to Matt and he had the following thing to say:
Pre-Sequel, Claptastic Voyage, and Handsome collection all shipped. In a rare moment, I was temporarily non-vital. I could leave without damaging Borderlands or Gearbox too much if I did it at this moment, so now was the time. I think Gearbox will do great in the future, and I think Borderlands will stay strong and awesome. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I’m not quitting out of anger or getting fired. It’s just time for new adventures. I’m an inventor. I’m ready to make something new. Not just new to me, but new to everyone.

I wish all the best to you Mr. Armstrong and HAPPY ADVENTURE TIME!
