Eli Roth hints at a possible sequel as the Borderlands Film director talks about cutting major beloved scenes from the final film. As Eli mentions he feels emotionally bad for leaving these great performances on the cutting-room floor, he also reveals an important detail for the future because the Borderlands directors state that they have a contract with the actors for another movie.

“If we’re lucky to do another one, we know we got them for another one,”

The Borderlands Movie will be released in theaters on Aug 9, 2024, and we still have to see how well the film will perform but if it’s a success Eli confirmed that the actor will reprise their role in the sequel.

This is great news for continuity but a segment of the Borderlands fanbase will likely continue their criticism for the cast being too old, unless the cast wins them over in the first movie.

Randy Pitchford mentioned at the start of the Borderlands movie production that it would take place in its own cinematic universe. Judging from the trailers and cut content, the Borderlands film uses elements from the Borderlands 1+2+3 video games. Fans would really want to see Handsome Jack in the Borderlands sequel if Gearbox Entertainment and Lionsgate get that opportunity.

Randy Pitchford teases an announcement about the next Borderlands film during an interview with GameRadar but also teases the next game, Borderlands 4.

before the end of the year. We’ll see. Maybe sooner.

  1. Well this aged well. I’d love more borderlands in media but I’d also love anyone who worked on the first one (with the exception of Tim Miller) to stay the hell away from it.
