Eli Roth has been signed on to be the director of the upcoming Borderlands movie. He is most closely associated with the horror genre. Eli set his mark on the industry by directing the movies; Cabin Fever (2003) and Hostel (2005). A movie I personally enjoyed was Death Wish (2018) with Bruce Willes as the main lead.
Craig Mazin wrote the script for the Borderlands Movie. He recently won 2 Emmys for his work on HBO’s Chernobyl. Avi Arad and Ari Arad are signed on the be the producers for this Lionsgate movie. They are basically responsible for setting the superhero genre on the map. From Iron man to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Then there is Erik Feig who is also a producer and known for adapting books into great movies. Some examples are The Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games series, and the Divergent series.
I’m so excited to dive into the world of Borderlands and I could not be doing it with a better script, producing team, and studio. I have a long, successful history with Lionsgate – I feel like we have grown up together and that everything in my directing career has led to a project of this scale and ambition. I look forward to bringing my own energy, ideas, and vision to the wild, fun, and endlessly creative world of the game. Randy Pitchford and everyone at Gearbox have been incredibly supportive of my ideas – it really feels like a perfect storm of creators coming together. We are out to make a new classic, one which the fans of the game will love, but also one which will find new audiences globally.”Eli Roth
