Gearbox Software has fixed the multiplayer components of the original Borderlands. The multiplayer mode originally ran on the Gamespy service. However, when that live service was taken down it wasn’t possible to play Borderlands online.
While Gearbox Software already fixed this issue on PC they now also have restored the multiplayer component for Playstation 3. This means that PS3 gamers who have missed out on the original Borderlands can now team up with their friends.
A lot of players were introduced to the franchise with BL2 or BLTPS but never were able to experience the original, well, they can, so are you ready to bring the mayhem?
Multiplayer Update
If you start up your copy of Borderlands on your Playstation 3 you will be given a prompt to update. This patch will enable the new multiplayer component in the game.
- Within Borderlands multiplayer, you can sort your friend list in a few different ways:
- Who is playing Borderlands
- Who is online
- Alphabetical order
- The “And They’ll Tell Two Friends” Trophy will now grant correctly
- Improvements to voice chat
*Note that if your save was previously stored in the cloud instead of on your PlayStation 3 hard drive, some settings such as screen brightness, Y-Axis invert, etc. may need to be reset.
