White Castle has partnered with Lionsgate to celebrate the release of the Borderlands movie. The restaurant will offer limited-edition packaging that features fan-favorite Borderlands characters.

The Borderlands movie-themed packaging has a QR Code and Claptrap will fast-travel from Pandora to your location whenever you scan the QR code with your smartphone. You can then enjoy 1 of the 7 different Augmented Reality (AR) experiences.

The Borderlands Movie will be released on August 9, 2024.

In the movie  Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot.

These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on the game from Gearbox and 2K, one of the bestselling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to Borderlands.

My Perspective

This sounds like fun. I’m not familiar with White Castle as they aren’t located here in Holland. I only know them from that 2004 movie; Harold & Kumar: Go White Castle. It was a weird road trip movie where they searched for this mythical dining place. I always thought the restaurant was a fictional location.

I know Disney/Pixar movies occasionally have their Happy Meal tie-ins at McDonald’s but that’s not something where my family goes like; “we have to eat at Mcdonald’s now”. However, I do see that working from a marketing perspective.
