Get a glimpse at the pipelines behind Borderland 3’s real-time visual effects and asset creation and optimization. Gearbox artists Nicholas Wilson, Samantha Spray, Seung Kim, and Caitlyn Trout take the stage to talk about the VFX and animation processes behind the game’s destructible cover, ECHO device and its pixel art, Guardian enemies, damage feedback system, gun customization, and more. Additionally, with such a big leap to both a new version of Unreal Engine and the next generation of console, the team will talk about the challenges they faced and the tools and techniques the developed to overcome them.
