Janina Gavankar will play an all-new character in the upcoming Borderlands Movie. She will be playing Commander Knoxx. Randy Pitchford mentioned he named this character specifically for this story. Because Commander Knoxx will follow in the footsteps of her father and joins Atlas’ private army, the Crimson Lance.

Janina Zione Gavankar is an American actress and musician. She played in a bunch of movies and TV series. One of the things that stood out for me is that she did voice-over work for Far Cry 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Her performance in Far Cry 4 was a reference for Gearbox Software as they were developing the voice for Amara in Borderlands 3.

It’s mentioned that Commander Knoxx will follow in the footsteps of her father and joins Atlas’ private army, the Crimson Lance. If you played the DLCs from the first Borderlands Game, you might recognize the name Knoxx. Her Father undoubtedly being General Knoxx, who didn’t want to go to Pandora.
I wonder if we also get introduced to Commandant Steele, one of the Sirens in Borderlands. She played a big role in the first game and she was sent to Pandora by General Knoxx. Also, the Sirens and the Vault play a huge part in this universe. In the Movie Sypnosis, they mentioned that Atlas is looking for his lost daughter. I’m kinda hoping his is Steele but I also don’t want them to use the same connection as Handsome Jack and Angel from the games.
Another big Borderlands character that got introduced alongside General Knoxx was Athena. She was one of the Crimson Assassins and a playable character in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. Her story continued in Tales from the Borderlands. She has a dominant presence in the franchise, so it would be a shame if they didn’t include or hinted at her in some way.
