Roland the Soldier
The illuminerdi reports that Kevin Hart is in talks to play Roland in the upcoming Borderlands movie. The role of Roland is listed as a ‘decent man’ and ‘grizzled veteran’, as well as a former member of the Crimson Lance who now operates as a soldier.
Kevin Darnell Hart is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and producer. He began his career by winning several amateur comedy competitions at clubs throughout New England. This culminated in landing a role in the TV series Undeclared. While the series only lasted 1 season he was able to get his foot into the industry and managed to land roles in big feature films.
If Kevin Hart gets cast as Roland, I kinda wonder what the tone of the movie will be as Kevin usually plays comedic roles. This makes me think that the movie likely leans towards the poop jokes from Borderlands 2 than the dark humor from the first one. Being a more light-hearted movie rather than taking itself seriously (Speculation = Speculation).

- Avi Arad and Ari Arad are signed on the be the producers for this Lionsgate movie. They are basically responsible for setting the superhero genre on the map. From Iron man to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.
- Erik Feig is also a producer and known for adapting books into great movies. Some examples are The Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games series, and the Divergent series.
- Cate Blanchett will play Lilith in the upcoming Borderlands Movie.
