During PAX Online, Gearbox Software announced that the Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters are all getting an additional skill tree to their arsenal. They already gave us a small preview of FL4K’s new abilities. However, you are probably wondering when we will get a glimpse of the other new skill trees for the remaining Vault Hunters. Well, Graeme Timmins, Lead Borderlands Live Team, did an interview with Paul Tassi about the upcoming skill trees.
In the interview, it was mentioned that we will learn more about the upcoming skill trees in October. You might remember that Fran mentioned during the BorderCAST that episode 8 of the Borderlands Show is scheduled for early October. He also said that during these big shows, they always like to promote big reveals that are almost about the be released. Coming back to the interview with Graeme, it was also mentioned that the New Skill Trees will out before the end of the year. I’m not sure when Borderlands 3 is coming to the next gen-consoles but it would be awesome that when you upgrade to your Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X that you immediately can jump into the new skill trees.
New Skill Trees
In the Gearbox Digital Showcase, they showed off FL4K’s new abilities but we also briefly got a glimpse of the other Vault Hunters and their action skills. While we don’t know what they exactly do and what their skill tree will look like, we can speculate about them.
FL4K the Beastmaster
As mentioned in FL4K’s 4th skill tree reveal. His trapper skill tree will focus on shields and survivability for both FL4K and their pet. The new Action Skill allows FL4K to deploy a gravity snare on the field. This will trap stun enemies within its range providing FL4K with a crowd control ability. The new pet is an ION Loaderbot which can be switched out for other type of loaderbots.
Amara the Siren
In the trailer we briefly see Amara punch a Cryo orb into combat. The explosion does leave behind a bubble. I’m not sure what this does at the moment, I wonder is if has the ability to lock enemies within.
Moze the Gunner
In the trailer, we also get a glimpse of Moze summoning a mini Iron Bear onto the battlefield. This is a smaller version of Iron Bear that is able to walk around the combat zone and probably follow you along the way. While it’s a mini Iron Bear, this is something different for Moze. No more jumping in and out of Iron Bear. I wonder if you are still able to equip those other weapons in your skill tree and add them to your mini iron bear.
Zane the Operative
Then we see Zane use this shoulder cannon that shoots out a Cryo laser beam and instantly freezing enemies. From the footage it seems that this actions skill has multiple charges in it. I don’t expect a 2 second cooldown on an action skill. Therefore, this will probably work similar to FL4K’s Rakk Attack. I’m personally looking forward to this action skill as it finally allows me to use those ‘On Action Skill End’ anointments.
New Class Mods, Anointments, and Game Mode
With these new skill trees we are also getting new class mods that make use of your new found abilities. These will exclusively drop in the new Game Mode that is bundled with the new 4th skill tree. It is currently not known what this new Game Mode is. Although Randy mentioned on twitter that calling it a new game mode was underselling the value. There will also be new anointments coming to the game with this DLC. You will be able to get these new anoints throughout the whole game. So you might be finding yourself farming a Monarch with a new anoint on it XD.
