Will these Mysterious Crystal Beacons play a major part in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands?

Update: The beacons I’m speculating about in this article are Oblisks that are scattered around the Wonderlands. You need to activate 11 of these Obelisks and defeat all the enemies it spawns as it is one of the Campaign Challenges. Defeating all of the Ancient Obelisk enemies will grant you a permanent Constitution buff to your hero stats.

The Source of all Power

At the beginning of the ‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Gameplay Trailer’, we see a staircase where a bunch of skeletons comes to life. In the background, we see Will Arnett as The Dragon Lord. He is standing on top of this tower as multiple pyramid-shaped objects circle around him. As it’s raining, you can see several lightning strikes connect with the Dragon Lord. This with the clouds spiraling around it, tells you some bad things are about the happen.

A small detail about these lightning beams is that they seem to drain energy from the Dragon Lord instead of providing it as the trail leads to the pyramid-shaped objects instead of the other way around.

Giant Crystal Beacon

I want you to take a close look at the image above where you see the altar that the Dragon Lord is standing on. The pillar above him has a purple diamond-shaped crystal attached to it. What if I tell you this is not the only time we see such a beacon throughout the gameplay trailer.

I also want to point out that the construction on the left side of the image, just behind the skeleton’s head, has a hexagram pattern to it. Which is often an indicator that something is technologically advanced. So, not everything is medieval fairytale fantasy.

Small Crystal Beacons

Around two-thirds of the trailer, we see our hero fight a horned troll by casting magic spells onto it while holding a machine gun. A cool moment to see where your eyes are looking at what’s in front of you, however, as the camera pans to the side, you see a small pillar in the background.

This small pillar is very reminiscent of the big pillar above the Dragon Lord’s head in the opening shot of the trailer.

Are we going to travel the Wonderlands, in search of these beacons to stop the Dragon Lord? For all, they could also suffice as an energy source for the main town. Activating more of these pillars results in more NPCs in the main town. But do let me know what you think about this.
