Trailer Breakdown
Randy Pitchford breaks down the Borderlands Trailer and gives his insights from the production.
- The access tunnel leads into a DAHL Eridium mine on Pandora.
- Claptrap poster in the background when Lilith is at the bus stop
- The Minimap on Tannis’ computer is a recreation of The Arid Badlands minimap in Borderlands 1
- Randy mentions that Olivier Richters aka The Dutch Giant has the Mouthpiece mask on but isn’t Mouthpiece from Borderlands 3. While Randy doesn’t tell us who the character is, we actually do know that The Dutch Giant plays Krom from Borderlands 1.
- Barrels contain Dahl branding
- Virtual Masks are actual in-game cosmetics from Borderlands 3.
- The Items of the Day on Marcus’ Vending Machine is the Free Radical and uses BL3 UI items, however, it’s an SMG now.
- The weapon that Janina Gavankar (Commander Knoxx) has looks kinda like the Lady Fist but doesn’t have muzzle flashes in the trailer.
- Tiny Tina looks to be holding a Nukem rocket launcher.
- Atlas soldiers use a Q/N/V System
- Firehawk firework symbol
- Lilith uses her Siren teleport ability
- If Claptrap creates an avalanche of lead does that make him Vladof?
Claptrap Title Card
I decided to do some dumb stuff, so I recreated the Ninja Assassin Claptrap Title Card. Check out the video to see it in action.
Movie Synopsis
In the movie Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot.
These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on the game from Gearbox and 2K, one of the bestselling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to Borderlands.
