Gearbox Software & 2K Games haven’t announced crossplay for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands just yet, however, since Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands runs on the same tech as Borderlands 3, it is likely that the game will feature the same cross-play capabilities as that game.
Gearbox Software’s Cross-Platform Support
Borderlands 3 Crossplay currently supports all platforms with the exception of the PlayStation family. Xbox, Stadia, Steam, and Epic players can all play together through Gearbox Software’s own SHiFT Matchmaking for Cross-Platform support. PlayStation only has Cross-Gen support, meaning PS4& PS5 gamers can play together.
Randy Pitchford tweeted that they have an update ready to go that enables full crossplay support for Borderlands 3 back in May 2021. However, they have been asked to remove support for Sony’s PlayStation at this moment in time.
As you may know, Sony asks, unlike other platforms, for a fee to support Crossplay on their platforms. It sounds like 2K Games and Sony couldn’t settle on an agreement. This directly resulted in the removal of PlayStation in Borderlands 3’s Crossplay functionality.
I assume that Sony and 2K Games will continue to talk about future projects and hopefully we will get good news regarding cross-play in the near future. Because with crossplay every one is a winner!
