Find your Reward
Matt Cox, the Creative Director on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, mentioned in the first Developer Diary that you are able to find Shrines pieces and if you collected them all you are rewarded with a Passive Boon.
There are also Shrine pieces to collect that unlock passive boons when you’ve found all the needed pieces…

The Shrine
Moxsy also mentioned this in his Breakdown video of the first character classes reveal trailer that we might already have seen one of the Shrines. It could be this altar with the 3 puzzle pieces on top of it.
If you look closely at the image above you see 3 puzzle pieces slotted into the altar. I could see this act like Typhon Deaddrop chests from Borderlands 3. When you found 3 Typhon logs you would uncover the location of a hidden loot chest. While the game implied that this chest was special I never found the loot to be that special. Therefore, they weren’t really worth your time other than lore and completing challenges.
If these Shrines are an upgrade to these Deaddrop chests and provide passive boons that could be a great incentive to explore the world.
Passive Boons
Matt Cox didn’t mention what type of Passive Boons we can expect in the game but if we look at Borderlands 3 again for reference we see a similar thing with the Science Machine. When you completed mini-games in the Science Machine you would earn tokens and then you can use these to purchase buffs.

I can see Gearbox Software reusing some of these boosts in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Btw. Borderlands the Pre-Sequel had these Moxxtails that you could purchase. These also gave you a temporary boost.
