Godfall Exclusivity History
Currently, No. Godfall will not be available on Steam during its initial launch. For the moment the game is only announced for Playstation 5 and the Epic Games Store.
Godfall will be released on November 12, 2020. It has been mentioned by Steve Gibson, head of Gearbox Publishing, that when they started this project they reached out to their friends at Playstation and Epic to make this game possible. Therefore Godfall launches exclusively on those platforms.
The Epic Games Store is notorious for having timed exclusive titles on its digital storefront. That said, we have seen exclusives come to Steam after a few months.
Godfall is slated to be exclusive to Epic Games Store on PC for 12 months. The earliest that you will be able to purchase Godfall on steam would be November 12, 2021.
Gearbox Software and 2K Games also did a timed exclusive deal with Epic for Borderlands 3 as it was the better deal at the time.
Epic has a more profitable revenue share than Steam and it’s even bigger when you build your game on Epic’s Unreal engine. Since Godfall is being developed on the Unreal 4 engine, that sounds like a win-win to me.
