The Anarchy is a legendary Tediore Shotgun in Borderlands 3 and is part of the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC. In this weapon guide, you will learn about the Anarchy’s unique stacking mechanic, how to obtain one for yourself, and other tips and tricks.
Special Weapon Effect:
“The stacks… THE STACKS!”
- Every reload or kill grants 30% damage and reduces accuracy.
- Max Stacks: 10 Times.
- Max Damage: +1379% Weapon Damage.
- Stacks are only lost whenever you swap your weapon or if you cancel the reload animation.
How to get the Anarchy?
The best way to obtain the Anarchy is by farming Kukuwajack, who is located in Negul Neshai on the planet Xylourgos, as they are the dedicated loot source for this item and have a 12.5% chance of dropping this weapon.
You can also get the Anarchy as a random World Drop on Xylourgos, and you can capitalize on that by exploiting this amazing farm location in DLC2.
Anarchy: Reload Modules
The Anarchy’s Reload Explosion deals the Weapon’s Card Damage × leftover Bullets.
- Standard Reload
- Bouncy Reload
- Homing Reload
- Walking Turret Reload
Notes:
- You can gain stacks more easily by using an Anarchy that consumes 2 ammo per shot, as you will need to reload quicker.
- These variants do have a lower damage value.
- Skills like Zane’s Playing dirty and FL4K’s Two F4ng will also use the lower damage value.
- Originally, you only gained stacks when the weapon automatically reloads, however, Manual Reloads also started working after a hotfix, therefore, you don’t need to rely on the 2 ammo consumption to quickly gain stacks.
- Zane’s Clone needs to build his own stacks.
Trivia:
- The flavor text and special effect are a reference to Gaige’s Anarchy skill in Borderlands 2. Its ricocheting bullets are based on a standard Anarchy build, which involves the use of the Close Enough skill to offset Anarchy’s harsh accuracy decrease.
Changelog:
- Hotfix Jan 21, 2021
- Tediore Nerf: -50% Reload-Explosion Damage.
- Hotfix July 23, 2020
- Players can no longer emote cancel to exploit Anarchy stacks.
My Perspective:
I think that the Anarchy is such a cool callback for Borderlands fans. Gaige from Borderlands 2 has a stacking skill called Anarchy that allows her to increase her damage while reducing her accuracy. It’s interesting to see that this weapon features a similar mechanic. During the Borderlands 2 days, players managed to abuse these Anarchy stacks to deal crazy damage, and it’s fun to see that the Anarchy in Borderlands 3 can deal great damage if you manage to get all the stacks.
The Anarchy is one of the best shotguns in Borderlands 3 and a ton of fun if you get the stack count going.
I suggest getting a Cryo or Radiation variant of the Anarchy with the Homing Reload for all-around mobbing. That way, you have an elemental damage type with few weaknesses and a beneficial reload mechanic.
