The Flipper is a legendary Maliwan SMG in Borderlands 3 and is part of the Bounty of Blood DLC. In this weapon guide, you will learn about the Flipper’s unique powers, how to obtain one for yourself, and other tips and tricks.
Special Weapon Effect:
“Put one foot in front of the other”
- The number of projectiles fired increases from 1 all the way up to 9 as you hold down the trigger.
- The ammo consumption per shot stays the same throughout the process.
How to get the Flipper?
There are 3 ways you can get the Flipper in Borderlands 3:
- You can obtain the Flipper by farming Minosaur, who is located in Bloodsun Canyon in Gehenna, as he is the dedicated loot source for this item and has a 33% chance of dropping this weapon.
- You can also get the Flipper by farming the Arbalest of Discipline during the Trial of Discipline with a 50% drop chance, however, this needs to be done with True Trials enabled.
- There is a small chance of getting the Flipper randomly as a World Drop from any suitable loot source on the planet Gehenna.
My Perspective:
I think that the Flipper is an amazing weapon as it takes the manufacturer’s charge-up mechanic to a whole different level. Usually, Maliwan weapons need to charge up before firing a single shot, however, the Flipper starts with a single projectile, but if you keep shooting, the projectile count increases while the ammo consumption stays the same. This makes the Flipper one of the best SMGs in Borderlands 3, especially if you have some Ammo regeneration going on to sustain its fire rate, as it can deal serious damage. While the Flipper is a great weapon for any Vault Hunter, Moze can get the most out of it due to her Ammo Regen capabilities and Splash Damage Bonuses.
