The Hammer Buster is a Legendary Weapon in Borderlands 2. This Jakobs Assault Rifle can never spawn with an elemental effect, as per the Jakobs manufacture. Instead, it boasts very high raw stats, with the exception of magazine size and high recoil reduction. It has the design of an ornate semi-automatic carbine-style weapon. The high recoil reduction is innate to its Dahl barrel, and it also boasts a 50% additive crit bonus and 15% multiplicative crit bonus.
Due to the semi-automatic firing mode, it is advised that the user keep their distance from the fray. The Hammer Buster is best utilized at medium-long range.

- The name of the weapon is a reference to the famous Gears of Warseries of games and novels, specifically the Hammerburst rifle.
- The flavor text is a reference to the webcomic Gears of Awesome by Egoraptor, in which the father of the main character, Marcus Fenix, is a scientist, spoken in the same violent vernacular as the webcomic.
- Oddly enough, while most legendary guns use the manufacturer’s unique barrel for that type of weapon, the Hammer Buster uses a variant of the Dahl assault rifle barrel.
