About the ION Laser:

The ION Laser is a Legendary Weapon in Borderlands 3. This Maliwan SMG is a hybrid between an SMG and a shotgun. It shoots a continuous elemental laser beam. Once you stop firing the ION Laser will shoot a bunch of elemental orbs (1 to 6) like a shotgun. The number of orbs is based on the duration of you shooting the laser beam. In that sense, you are charging your shotgun with a laser beam. You will get the maximum number of orbs after firing the beam for 4 seconds. Since the obs deal significant damage you want to utilize those. There is a little trick that allows you to fire multiple waves of orbs. After firing your first wave of orbs, tap the trigger button a few times to fire additional orbs.

Elements:

Incendiary, Shock, Corrosive, Cryo, and Radiation.

Special Weapon Effect:

“Particles unite!”

• Continuous beam. Stop firing shoots orbs, count based on beam duration

How to get the ION Laser?:

The ION Laser is a Moxxi’s Heist on the Handsome Jackpot legendary and can be obtained from any loot source but has a 10% chance of dropping from EVIL Saint Lawrence who you can farm in The Spendopticon located on the Handsome Jackpot.

Notes

• Like other laser weapons, the damage on the item card isn’t increased when having a Double Penetrating Prefix variant. The increased ammo consumption does get mentioned but you need to double the damage number in your head. So 1000 damage becomes 2000 damage.
