Longnail - Borderlands Legendary Sniper
Longnail - Borderlands Legendary Sniper

The Longnail is a Legendary weapon in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. This Hyperion Sniper is a very useful weapon against enemies who have a lot of shield but are low health. Because of its modest damage the Longnail is less effective against enemies with great health pools. While the bullets of the Longnail pass through enemy shields the elemental status effect however does not pass through. So if you would want to rip through those shields anyway then I would recommend getting a longnail that does shock damage.

Element:

Shock, Incendiary, Corrosive, Cryo, or None

Special Weapon Effects:

“Nailed it!”
All the parts  except for elemental capacitor are fixed. Shots bypass shields and inflicting damage directly to health. Has decreased damage but increased fire rate and capacity.

How to get the Longnail ?:

The Longnail can be obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from The Invincible Empyrean Sentinel in Eleseer.

How to Grind the Longnail ?:

You can use the Grinder to create the Longnail. While there is no guaranteed recipe, you can combine 2 Legendary weapons and 1 Purple Sniper to obtain a random legendary Sniper. Be sure to make it a luneshine grind for a “guaranteed” legendary and also get a chance of getting a luneshine buff.

Notes:

  • While the Longnail only uses 1 ammo per shot the high fire rate rips through your clip pretty fast.
  • The Longnail is very good in the hands of Aurelia. because she has  multiple skills that improve critical hit and sniper rifle damage. The skill ‘Custom Loads’ can imbue non-elemental Longnails with an element. It also adds additional elements to elemental Longnails.
  • The Longnail’s ability to bypass shields does not work on the three shielded phases of the fight against The Sentinel and inflicts no damage at all. However, the Longnail will inflict damage on the final shield-free phase, and its shield bypassing ability will work against The Empyrean Sentinel.
  • Due to the Longnail’s fixed parts and accessories, the gun will always spawn with the ‘Bolshy’ prefix.
