About the Old God:
The Old God is a Legendary Item in Borderlands 3. This Hyperion Shield doesn’t just have elemental resistants it also boosts that specific elemental damage. Therefore the Old God can be utilized as a great defensive and offensive tool making it one of the best shields in the game.
The Old God has 4 shield components, however, the 4th boost doesn’t fit on the item card. You have the ‘Old God’ component and then it can roll with 2 to 3 Hyperion shield components.
Elemental Resistance:
Incendiary, Shock, Corrosive, Cryo, or Radiation
Special Weapon Effect:
“The end comes from within”
- Spawns with 4 buffs with 2 fixed buffs
- +20 [Element] Damage
- +25% Elemental Resistance
The Old God can be obtained from any suitable loot source, as a world drop on Xylourgos, in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC. But it has an increased chance of dropping from Eleanor in Hearts Desire. Eleanor has a 15% drop chance.

I don’t think it’s a reference to Zeus, as it’s not only shock. I got a Radiation variant with the resist and dmg bonus, also the bottom bonus is not static, I think it’s a random perk from the normal shield pool, mine had +10% move speed when full. Old God is a common name for Lovecraftian entities and since this DLC is themed around that, I feel it is a more likely origin.
