BLTPS - Claptastic Voyage Loot - Omni-Cannon

The Omni-Cannon is a Legendary weapon in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. This Hyperion Sniper is one that requires some level of patience because it has a very slow fire rate. However the Omni-Cannon does deals bonus explosive damage with the capability of doing splash damage which is not listed on the weapon card. You are able to score critical hits with the Omni-Cannon. This  means that you can use it as a regular sniper rifle, but one that also has bonus explosive damage. The Omni-Cannon is particularly effective against Insecure bots, because with a well placed headshot you can knockoff their helmets. The low scope sway is helpful to get those getting critical hits.

Element:

None + Explosive

Special Weapon Effects:

“State of the art. Bang bang.”
Deals bonus explosive damage. Very low initial scope sway for a Hyperion rifle. Slightly increased damage.

How to get the Omni-Cannon ?:

The Omni-Cannon can be obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from The Sponx located in Subconscious of the Claptastic Voyage DLC.  You find the Sponx during the optional mission: ‘The Temple of Boom’. This mission is picked up by finding a bizarre underwater Think Tank in Subconscious.

How to Grind the Omni-Cannon ?:

You can use the Grinder to create the Omni-Cannon. While there is no guaranteed recipe, you can combine 2 Legendary weapons and 1 Purple Sniper to obtain a random legendary Sniper. Be sure to make it a luneshine grind for a “guaranteed” legendary and also get a chance of getting a luneshine buff.

Notes:

  • Despite the fact that the Omni-Cannon deals bonus explosive damage, it is still considered to be a non-elemental weapon, allowing Nisha’s Magnificent Six to include the bonus damage increase, whilst preventing any penalties when used with Aurelia’s Next to Cleanliness skill.
  • Athena’s Fury of the Arena skill will improve the Omni-Cannon’s slow fire rate, but this requires multiple enemies to be under the influence of Rend for it to work in its full potential. Storm Weaving is also another good skill to couple with the Omni-Cannon, as the weapon swapping time is quick. Also, stacking up Maelstroms will put Unrelenting into use, which in term increases weapon swapping and fire rate, although not by much. Overall the weapon is powerful, if coupled with right skills and precision.

Trivia:

  • The Omni-Cannon is the spiritual successor to the Cobra from Borderlands. It has the same general characteristics, as well as its own flavor text from RoboCop – in this case, Clarence Boddicker’s description of the Cobra Assault Cannon from the scene in which it was introduced.
