The Veruc is a Legendary Weapon in Borderlands 2. This Dahl Assault Rifle has burst fire when zoomed. However, the special effect’s spread is influenced by whether the user is zoomed or not. When zoomed, the spread reduces with every round fired, ending with all three bullets hitting the same spot on the last shot in the burst.
Due to this, it is surprisingly effective at dealing with charging targets, or enemies that are otherwise in close range, as all three projectiles will strike the target. It’s still worth noting though, that the Veruc still possesses the accuracy and burst-fire mode of other Dahl rifles. Thus, it still retains its usefulness at medium range as would a normal assault rifle, due to the center projectile still flying straight versus the left and right projectiles.
The Veruc’s spread also has a tendency to, at certain ranges, hit three critical hit points of the more common loader variants – both arm joints and the eye – simultaneously.
Elements:
None, Fire, Slag, Corrosive & Shock
Special Weapon Effects:
I want that rifle, Daddy!
- Fires 3 projectiles at the cost of 2 bullets in a horizontally linear spread.
- When zoomed, the Veruc fires a five-round burst of the same pattern, but each group gets progressively tighter towards the center bullet – the first group of the burst is the same as if hip-fired; the fifth is very close to centered.
How to get the Veruc?:
The Veruc can be obtained randomly from any suitable loot source but has an increased chance to drop from Mobley located in The Dust.
Notes:
- A SHiFT code for a player-scaled Breach Veruc is one of the twenty items included in the Diamond Plate Loot Chest. Its card caption reads “Get it?”
- Ammunition consumption is two rounds consumed per shot. However, since the Veruc shoots three projectiles per shot, its ammo consumption is rather tame compared to other guns.
- Day 9 of Week 2 of the Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt featured a 100% drop chance from Rakkman. The hotfix on that day increased the Veruc’s damage and accuracy.t.
Trivia:
- The name and flavor text of the Veruc are a reference to Veruca Salt, one of the children from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Veruca has a line in the movie adaptation similar to the flavor text where she says “Daddy, I want a squirrel”. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was written by Roald Dahl, who shares his surname with the Veruc’s manufacturer. The name and class of the weapon, (Veruc assault rifle), is also a homonymic pun.
