Gearbox Software added anoints to Borderlands 3. These are additional buffs that can roll on your items. You can trigger them by activating your action skill for example. Because the Borderlands 3 end game revolves around these weapon boosts, you want to have the best anoints on your gear. So start farming for these anointments on your favorite legendary items.

Top 8 Best Borderlands 3 Anointments on ANY Character

These are the weapon anoints that work well on any character, however, the game designers at Gearbox Software want to incentify a specific playstyle therefore, Vault Hunter-specific anoints are really strong.

1. Consecutive Hits increase Weapon Damage by 1% per hit, misses remove all bonuses.
   • Great anointment if you keep dealing damage against your enemies as it goes up to +250% damage. Any damage source counts towards this anoint – grenade, action skill, pet – that way you can keep benefitting from the stacks you build up after reloading your weapon.
2. Gain 150% increased Weapon Damage against enemies above 90% Health.
   • While Gearbox fixed this anoint it’s still a great one to use (Previously it only counted the Red Health bar and therefore ripped through additional Shields and Armor). Weapons with a high base damage on their card have the potential to one-shot enemies with this anoint.
3. While under 50% health, deal 150% bonus radiation damage.
   • This one needs a build around it – like using the Front Loader Shield or Deathless Artifact – but then you have a constant 150% damage bonus. Radiation is a pretty good damage type.
4. On Action Skill End, The next 2 magazines will have a 100% additional bonus Elemental damage.
   • If you have an action skill with a short cooldown, you can easily spam this anointment.
   • Caution: Reloading your weapon before it’s empty counts as a Mag, so really empty your clip.
5. On Action Skill End, Splash Damage is increased by 125% for a short time.
   • This is a good anoint but make sure your weapon actually deals splash damage.
6. On Action Skill End, Weapon Damage is increased by 100% for a short time.
   • Increased weapon damage is always a good thing to have.
7. On Grenade Thrown, Weapon, Grenade, and Action Skill Damage are increased by 25% for 6 seconds.
   • This anointment only spawns on grenade mods and is easy to trigger. Great to have on Zane’s Drone as it will do the grenade throw for you if you spec into ‘Drone Delivery’.
8. On Action Skill Start – Activate any effects that trigger on shield break or fill.
   • You can do some crazy stuff with this anointment. Think of the Frozen Heart, Cryo Novas on command. Or the Stop-Gap, you become immune to all damage for 5 seconds when you use your action skill.
9. Killing an Enemy Grants 12.5% Weapon Damage and Reload Speed for 25 Seconds.
   • This anoint stacks up to 10 times and while that is pretty difficult to maintain this is one of the few anointments that stays active when switching weapons. But you can do fun stuff with it.

  • This is kinda like the; “On Action Skill end, gain 100% elemental damage” but the boost is higher. Incendiary damage is a solid element to run.
• After exiting Iron Bear, gain 160% increased Splash damage for 18 seconds.
  • This anoint offers more damage and has a longer uptime than the general splash damage anointment.

  • Great anointment if you keep dealing damage against your enemies as it goes up to +250% damage. Any damage source counts towards this anoint – grenade, action skill, pet – that way you can keep benefitting from the stacks you build up after reloading your weapon.

  • This anointment gives your weapon a bit more punch but they are also great for Iron Cub. However, you do need to get the correct weapon type.

Best Anointments For Zane

These are the best weapon anoints you can use on Zane.

• While SNTNL is active, Gain 100% of damage as bonus Cryo damage.
  • This one is actually better than a: “While Action Skill Active, gain 200 weapon damage” anointment, as it’s multiplicative. This anoint is great for Zane because it is pretty easy to keep your SNTNL active.
• After swapping places with your Digi-Clone, Weapon Damage is increased by 130% for a short time.
  • Since the Digi-Clone is a useful action skill these days, this anointment is also one to look out for.
• While SNTNL is active, Movespeed is increased by 15%.
  • You can only get this anoint on a shield. With the skill Violent Momentum, Zane gets stronger the faster he moves.
• Consecutive Hits increase Weapon Damage by 1% per hit, misses remove all bonuses.
  • Until Zane’s 4th action skill is here. He doesn’t really benefit from the “On Action Skill End” Anoints. Using the Seein’ Dead, he can easily keep his action skills and constant damage output going.
• While under 50% health, deal 150% bonus radiation damage.
  • This one needs a build around it – like using the Front Loader Shield or Deathless Artifact (Zane can run with his all-rounder barrier shield equipped to avoid damage) – but and then you have a constant 150% damage bonus.

• While Digi-Clone is Active, Regenerate 30% of Magazine Ammo Per Second.
  • While you sacrifice a damage boost by picking this anoint, it is actually very useful in combination with those top-tier weapons that eat through your ammo (I’m looking at you Sand Hawk and Tizzy).
