Best Legendary Weapons
There are a lot of legendary weapons in Borderlands 3. They all have their own unique special mechanics. However, some of them perform better than others. In this Borderlands 3 Guide, I’m going to tell you which legendary items should be in your backpack. So Vault Hunter, start farming for these items as they can take on everything even on Mayhem Level 10.
The Anarchy is a call back to Gaige in Borderlands 2. In that game, she had a skill called Anarchy that allowed her to gain stacks that increased her damage and reduced her accuracy. This weapon does the same thing. When you manage to get ALLL THE STACKS, the Anarchy deal A LOT OF DAMAGE!!! The Anarchy can be obtained from any suitable loot source, as a world drop on Xylourgos, in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC. Check out this guide for Best Legendary Farm Location in DLC2.
The Backburner is a Vladof Launcher that shoots Lob-like orbs. On impact, it will create a singularity to pull enemies. For a few seconds, it spits out these mirv orbs dealing damage in the target area. These MIRV Orbs will be thrown in an upwards arc and will fall close to the initial explosion. The BackBurner is Mayhem Mode 6 or higher Legendary. You can get it from Agonizer 9000 who is located in the Guts of Carnivora on Pandora.
The Beacon is a Maliwan Pistol that deals good damage on itself. The fire rate is oke but definitely not as fast as a Hellshock. The Beacon’s special power lies in its reload. Every time you reload it will trigger a Nova Blast in the form of the weapon’s current element. The Beacon has an increased chance of dropping from Jerrick Logan who is located in Bloodsun Canyon on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
The Complex Root is a Maliwan Sniper that shoots 2 projectiles after a 1-second charge up. The projectile will spawn 13 new projectiles that will Zickzack along the trajectory. The bullets will explode on impact or after a set time has expired. The Complex Root isn’t designed for long-range sniping as the projectiles don’t travel that far. Also, try and avoid using this weapon at close range as it deals splash damage that can take you down. The Complex Root has an increased chance of dropping from Lani Dixon who is located in Ashfall Peaks on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
The Flipper is a Maliwan SMG that takes the charge up time to the next level. Because when firing this gun it starts shooting out 1 bullet but as you keep holding down the trigger the number of projectiles starts to increase. While the projectiles and therefore the damage continues to stack up, the amount of ammo consumption stays the same throughout the process. The Flipper has an increased chance of dropping from Minosaur who is located in Bloodsun Canyon on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
The Hellshock is a Maliwan Pistol that always comes with the incendiary and shock element. You can switch elements by using the alternative fire option. The legendary special effect lets projectiles ricochet off surfaces and swap the projectiles element. So if you are shooting fire projectiles, the missed shots will ricochet and deal shock damage and vise versa. The Hellshock was already an oke weapon for mobbing Maliwan troopers since they have both a shield and a health gauge. By setting the Hellshock on incendiary, you can shoot at the ground just before your enemies and the projectiles will ricochet and strip the shield. Once the shield is gone, you can shoot directly at your opponent to finish the job. The Hellshock can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from Gigamind who is located in the Meridian Metroplex on Promethea.
The Light show is a Vladof Pistol that fires multiple projectiles that travel in a spinning circular pattern. It shreds through enemies, it’s basically the Monarch Pistol. The Light Show has an increased chance of dropping from Lasodactyl who is located in Obsidian Forest on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
The O.P.Q. System is a Atlas Assault Rifle that is basically a “legendary Q System”, however, its Alt-Fire allows you to spawn a drone copy of the weapon. The drone will be active for 13 seconds and will shoot the same target as where you are aiming at. The Drone will occasionally shoot shock projectiles. The impact of the shock projectiles can hurt you. The Drone will despawn if you switch weapons. The O.P.Q. System is a Revenge of the Cartels Legendary. You can get it from Josie Byte, Franco Firewall, and Joey Ultraviolet in Villa Ultraviolet during the Revenge of the Cartels Event.
The Recursion is a Maliwan Shotgun that has a slow fire rate and it even feels slower than the listed fire rate as Maliwan weaponry has a charge-up time. That said, the Recursion does pack a punch as it shoots a tight pellet of projectiles making it very accurate for a shotgun. The projectiles can also ricochet from one enemy to another or bounce off surfaces. The Recursion is really great for clearing mobs especially when you add Anointments to your geat that add elemental damage to your weapon as this adds more projectiles to the weapon.
The Reflux is a Hyperion Shotgun that has a high capacity shield. Damage to the weapon’s shield will returns bullets to your magazine. This weapon will only come with the Corrosive element. It’s basically a corrosive Brainstormer as it creates a corrosive beam between enemies when you shoot them. The Reflux is Mayhem Mode 6 or higher Legendary. You can get it from GenIVIV who is located in Voracious Canopy on Eden-6.
The Monarch is a Vladof Assault Rifle that shoots like a shotgun. It has a high magazine capacity and fire rate. With the Bipod Mode, it kinda functions like the Dictator as the pellet spread increases. The Monarch is Mayhem Mode 6 or higher Legendary. You can get it from Killavolt who is located in Lectra City on Promethea.
