Best Legendary Weapons
There are a lot of legendary weapons in Borderlands 3. They all have their own unique special mechanics. However, some of them perform better than others. In this Borderlands 3 Guide, I’m going to tell you which legendary items should be in your backpack. So Vault Hunter, start farming for these items.
The Brainstormer always has the shock element. It fires 7 projectiles in a lightning bolt pattern. The Brainstormer is great for mobbing and stripping shields. This is because of its legendary effect as it can create a chain lightning shock between enemies that are in close proximity to each other. The Brainstormer can be randomly obtained from any loot source but it has a high chance of dropping from Katagawa Ball who is located in Skywell-27 on Promethea.
The Lyuda is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Each bullet will split into 3 projectiles dealing a ton of damage, however, the split happens when the projectile has traveled a short distance. Therefore the Lyuda is best used for medium-range combat. The Lyuda can be obtained from any loot source and is a guaranteed reward for completing all of Zero’s Target of Opportunity missions. But it also has an increased chance to drop from Tremendous Rex can spawn in the Cistern of Slughter.
The Recursion has a slow fire rate and it even feels slower than the listed fire rate as Maliwan weaponry has a charge-up time. That said, the Recursion does pack a punch as it shoots a tight pellet of projectiles making it very accurate for a shotgun. The projectiles can also ricochet from one enemy to another or bounce off surfaces. The Recursion is really great for clearing mobs. The Recursion can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from General Traunt who is located in the Desolation’s Edge on Nekrotafeyo.
The Scourge fires a slow-moving rocket that continuously spawns smaller rockets that swirl around the main projectile. After a little while, these child-rockets will home in on enemy targets. The Scourge is great for taking on bosses and will do a decent job at mobs. The Scourge can be obtained as a random world drop but has a high chance of dropping from the Brood Mother who is located at The Pyre of Stars on Nekrotafeyo. It also has a high chance of dropping from the Alicritous Vanda who is a named enemy in the Cistern of Slaughter.
The Dictator shoots 3 bullets in a horizontal line by default, however, it comes with a fixed bipod. This alternate firing mode increases the projectile count from 3 to 7. But also increases the recoil, sway, and accuracy at the cost of your movement speed. So while you are able to deal a lot more damage you are also making yourself an easy target. The Dictator is a great weapon against bosses. The Dictator can be randomly obtained from any loot source but it has a high chance of dropping from Agonizer 9000 & Terror who are located in the Guts of Carnivora on Pandora.
The Cutsman shoots out a projectile that splits into 2 orbs after a short distance. These orbs stay connected as an energy beam will make a connection between them. The weapon itself has a bit of a charge up and the projectiles move pretty slow, however, it compensates that with the width of the projectiles. The Cutsman can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from Borman Nates who is located in the Merdian Outskirts on Promethea.
The Maggie is the hardest hitting Jakobs Pistol that deals pure damage. The Maggie fires 6 projectiles per shot and has a fast reload speed. This Masher-style pistol will out-perform most revolvers if you compare the damage output, however, it will do so at the cost of its accuracy. The Maggie is great for close to mid-range combat. The Maggie can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from Tremendous Rex who is located in the Cistern of Slaughter.
The Kyb’s Worth comes equipped with a shield just like Hyperion weapons do. The Kyb’s Worth shoots multiple projectiles that travel in a wave pattern. It deals great damage but only if you manage to hit your target because the projectiles can curve around an enemy. Therefore this weapon is best suited for medium-range combat because that’s when the projectiles are near to each other. When you defeat an enemy with the Kyb’s Worth it will spawn a healing aura. This special legendary effect only occurs once every 10 seconds. The Kyb’s Worth can be obtained in Maliwan’s Blacksite, it has a high chance of dropping from Wotan the Invincible.
The Lob shoots slow-moving elemental orbs that can pass through enemies. These orbs will damage nearby enemies and slowly tick away their life gauge. For the first 6-months of the game’s life cycle, this weapon was pretty poorly received. However, since February 27, 2020, Gearbox Software buffed the Lob with a hotfix. Now it’s one of the best weapons in the game and can even outperform the Cutsman. The Lob can be randomly obtained from any loot source but it has a high chance of dropping from Graveward who is located in The Floating Tomb on Eden-6.
These legendary items are amazing, however, these were only available during one of the Borderlands 3 seasonal events. So if these events return in the future, you need to hunt them down.
