Gearbox Software has hidden a Dark Souls Easter Egg in Borderlands 2. In this guide, I’m going to tell you how you can find it and what secrets you can get from there.
You need to have completed chapter 9 of Borderlands 2’s main story campaign in order to access the Minecraft Easter Egg. This is after the big moment at Sanctuary and you are able to enter the Caustic Caverns underneath the city.
Borderlands 2 Dark Souls Easter Egg Guide
1. Go to the Caustic Caverns
Use a Fast Travel Station to get there or travel to Sanctuary Hole if you haven’t discovered the area just yet. You can access it after completing Chapter 9.
2. Travel to the East area of the Caustic Caverns
There is a hidden island in the east area of the Caustic Caverns. You need to travel through the “Dozing Discharge” area and make your way towards Blue – the giant Crystalisk that you encounter during the mission “Safe and Sound”.
3. Locate Secret island
There is a secret island located in the toxic swamp that contains the Dark Souls Easter Egg. Once you reached the Crystalisk, you need to travel north through the swamp. You do need at least 8000 Health/Shield in order to make it across as you will deal damage and won’t be able to jump.
4. Talk to Solitaire
You will encounter Solitaire on this lone island and the signature bonfire from the Dark Souls franchise. Solitaire will only laugh at you when you try to communicate with him. The bonfire will periodically light up and some lost souls will appear from time to time.
Dark Souls Easter Egg Rewards
Setting foot on the lone island will unlock the hidden challenge “I Bet I Can Make It”. This challenge is normally absent from the challenge list and will only appear once it is achieved. Completing this challenge will reward you with 5 Badass Points.
