Borderlands 3 Autosell: Everything You Need to Know

Borderlands 3 AutoSell
Borderlands 3 AutoSell Explained

Gearbox Software added an Auto-Sell feature to Borderlands 3 with the August 8, 2024 patch update. This new Quality-of-Life feature allows you to directly sell the gear that you pick up. The item’s value and ammo will immediately be added to your inventory. This ability to automatically sell gear is based on the item rarity that you have set. In this Borderlands 3 Guide, I’m going to tell you how to enable the new autosell option, how it works, and what you should be looking out for.

How to enable Auto Sell in Borderlands 3?

You can find the Autosell feature in the “General” section of the “Gameplay” Options Menu. You can access and adjust this feature from the Main Menu or whenever you Pause the game.

Autosell is based on the item rarity that you have set. You will sell every pickup from that rarity and below.

Borderlands 3: How Auto-Sell Works

  • Enabling this feature when starting a new playthrough is not advised. While you can pick up your first gun other introduction items are sold.
  • Items you pick up from the ground and loot chests are affected by this gameplay feature.
  • Auto-sell doesn’t affect items you equip off the ground/chests.
  • You can still purchase items from the vending machine even when you set that rarity to be sold.
  • Cosmetic Items are not automatically sold.
  • You cannot directly sell Legendary Gear.
  • Mission Reward items that are dropped and need to be picked up after completing a mission will also be affected by the autosell feature.
  • Mission Reward items that are rewarded directly into your backpack are not automatically being sold.
  • Autosell does not work in Arms Race (part of The Designer’s Cut).
  • There are Epic Purple weapons that outclass their Legendary variant, therefore, you might not want to set this feature to that rarity. The Cloning Maddening Tracker is also a highly wanted epic purple grenade mod.
  • The Crit, which you can get from tipping Moxxi, has the unique ability to slip out of your hands. If you have set autosell to Epic, you are going to lose this weapon when picking it back up again.
