Best Legendary Pistols
There are a lot of legendary pistols in Borderlands 3 but like any true Vault Hunter, you only want to best of the best. This weapons guide will tell you exactly which pistols you should have equipped in your inventory. So get ready to farm these babies:
10 – Unkempt Harold
The Unkempt Harold is back in Borderlands 3. This weapon might not reach the super status of its BL2 counterpart but this Torgue Pistol is still an absolute blast. When you fire this weapon it will shoot out a horizontal spread of projectiles. These will continue to spread out from each other the further they travel. Therefore, you want to use the Unkempt Harold at close to medium range. The Unkempt Harold has an increased chance of dropping from Caber Dawd who is located in Bloodsun Canyon on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
9 – Gargoyle
The Gargoyle is a COV Pistol that shoots corrosive darts that deal damage on impact and then explode dealing this same amount of damage again. When you fire the Gargoyle it frequently shoots out the blobs in a small arc. This is where the real power of this weapon lies as these will do 5 times the base damage. The Gargoyle can eat through your ammo as it consumes 2 ammo per shot. It can come in an x2 variant that consumes 3 ammo per shot. The Gargoyle has an increased chance of dropping from Dickon Goyle who is located in Bloodsun Canyon on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
8 – Roisen’s Thorns
The Roisen’s Thorns is a Torgue Pistol that deals good corrosive and incendiary damage. The main projectile is corrosive but the weapon’s special legendary effect spawns 4 additional projectiles that deal incendiary damage. The Roisen’s Thorns can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from Princess Tarantella II who is located in The Splinterlands on Pandora.
7 – Maggie
The Maggie is a fan favorite. It’s the hardest-hitting Jakobs masher in the game. The Maggie fires 6 projectiles per shot and has a fast reload speed. This Masher-style pistol will out-perform most revolvers if you compare the damage output, however, it will do so at the cost of its accuracy. The Maggie is great for close to mid-range combat. The Maggie can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from Tremendous Rex who is located in the Cistern of Slaughter.
6 – Hellshock
The Hellshock is a Maliwan Pistol that always comes with the incendiary and shock element. You can switch elements by using the alternative fire option. The legendary special effect lets projectiles ricochet off surfaces and swap the projectiles element. So if you are shooting fire projectiles, the missed shots will ricochet and deal shock damage and vise versa. The Hellshock was already an oke weapon for mobbing Maliwan troopers since they have both a shield and a health gauge. By setting the Hellshock on incendiary, you can shoot at the ground just before your enemies and the projectiles will ricochet and strip the shield. Once the shield is gone, you can shoot directly at your opponent to finish the job. The Hellshock can be obtained from any loot source but has a high chance of dropping from Vermilingua who is located in The Splinterlands on Pandora.
5 – Prompt Critical
The Prompt Critical is a Torgue Pistol that could just be the next Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold for Borderlands 3. This weapon deals great damage and its legendary effect has a very large splash radius, making the Prompt Critical an excellent mobbing weapon. Therefore, you want to use this Torgue weapon in sticky mode (unless you are Moze). The Prompt Critical can come in the x3 or x4 variant. The Prompt Critical has an increased chance of dropping from Evil Lilith who is located at Castle Crimson in Krieg’s Mind. But this weapon can also randomly drop from any suitable loot source within the DLC.
4 – Beacon
The Beacon is a Maliwan Pistol that deals good damage on itself. It’s considered the “better Hellshock“. Its fire rate is oke but definitely not as fast as a Hellshock. The Beacon’s special power lies in its reload. Every time you reload it will trigger a Nova Blast in the form of the weapon’s current element. The Beacon has an increased chance of dropping from Jerrick Logan who is located in Bloodsun Canyon on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
3 – Free Radical
The Free Radical is a Maliwan Pistol is a mixture between the Beacon and the Carrier. The Free Radical only comes in the shock element and shoots energy orbs that deal shock splash damage. Projectiles that hit a target will summon a homing projectile that will move in on the original target. While your energy orbs do deal splash damage the homing projectiles won’t deal that.
2 – Atlas Replay
The Atlas Replay is great because it actually tracks the enemies automatically. So you won’t have to shoot out a tracking dart and hope it sticks. This one has a homing feature so you can benefit from this manufacturer-specific ability. Another cool thing is that the Atlas Replay shoots explosive rounds, giving you the ability to deal splash damage.
1 – Light Show
The Light Show is a Vladof Pistol that fires multiple projectiles that travel in a spinning circular pattern. This weapon literally shreds through enemies with its high fire rate and damage output. It’s also an amazing gun to give to your Digi-clone while playing as Zane. The Light Show has an increased chance of dropping from Lasodactyl who is located in Obsidian Forest on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
