Best Legendary Snipers
There are a lot of legendary snipers rifles in Borderlands 3 but like any true Vault Hunter, you only want to best of the best. This weapons guide will tell you exactly which snipers you should have equipped in your inventory. So get ready to farm these babies:
5 – Skullmasher
The Skullmasher is a Jakobs Sniper Rifle that fires a cluster of 5 bullets but will only cost 1 ammo per shot. If all projectiles connect the Skullmasher is capable of much higher raw damage output than most of its peers. The Skullmacher tends to have a lower accuracy for sniper rifles, therefore, it’s best used at mid-range or against very large enemies. The fire rate of the Skullmasher is great. The Skullmasher can be obtained from any boss in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC. It has an increased chance of dropping from Eista who is located in Skittermaw Basin on Xylourgos.
4 – Unseen Threat
The Unseen Threat is a Jakobs Sniper that is pretty strong and really shines once you are able to score critical hits with it. Because then the special legendary effect kicks in and the damage of this weapon starts to stack up. The homing projectiles that spawn after hitting a crit spot don’t always find their target. The Unseen Threat can be obtained in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC it drops from Amach who is located in Cursehaven on Xylourgas.
3 – Sand hawk
The Sandhawk is a Dahl Sniper that has a unique projectile pattern. This sniper fires a line of 7 bullets that move to mimic the way that a hawk flaps its wings. This weapon can come with the Full-Auto, Semi-Auto, and Burst Fire firing modes. Basically, you want a Sand Hawk with the Full-Auto & Semi-Auto firing modes. Because with Full-auto you actually have an SMG and with the Semi-Auto you have a sniper that can shoot as fast as an SMG. While the pellet spread on the Full-Auto and the Burst Fire is pretty wide, the spread on the pellets of the Semi-Auto is pretty tight. The Sand Hawk is Mayhem Mode 6 or higher Legendary. You can get it from Katagawa Jr. who is located in the Atlas HQ on Promethea.
2 – Krakatoa
The Krakatoa is a Maliwan Sniper Rifle that acts like a slow firing automatic assault rifle after its initial charge up. The Krakatoa always has a fire element. When you kill an enemy with this weapon, a lava puddle will spawn on the enemy’s location. This lava puddle will occasionally spit out fireballs. The Krakatoa can be obtained from any loot source but it has an increased chance to drop from The Rampager who is located at the Forgotten Basilica on Promethea.
1 – Complex Root
The Complex Root is a Maliwan Sniper that shoots 2 projectiles after a 1-second charge up. The projectile will spawn 13 new projectiles that will Zickzack along the trajectory. The bullets will explode on impact or after a set time has expired. The Complex Root isn’t designed for long-range sniping as the projectiles don’t travel that far. Also, try and avoid using this weapon at close range as it deals splash damage that can take you down. The Complex Root has an increased chance of dropping from Lani Dixon who is located in Ashfall Peaks on Gehenna. But this weapon can also ‘World Drop’ in the Bounty of Blood DLC.
Bonus – Wedding Invitation
The Wedding Invitation is a Jakobs Sniper Rifle that is only available through the Broken Hearts Day Event. The Wedding Invitation is one of the few elemental Jakobs weapons. It shoots incendiary bullets but the bullets that ricochet on getting a critical hit deal cryo damage. Having 2 elements on 1 weapon is pretty cool. Cryo is a good element to have in Borderlands 3 as it generally performs pretty well. The Wedding Invitation could only be obtained from the Broken Hearts Day event by breaking 100 hearts.
