Rare Enemy Spawns in Guns, Love, and Tentacles

Rare enemy spawns return in Borderlands 3’s Guns, LOVE, and Tentacles DLC. You want to hunt these targets down for unique legendary items but you also get the achievement/trophy, A Hunter, Through and Through, if you found all 4 of them. In this guide, I’m going to tell you where you can find these rare spawns. And I would like to point out, these are rare spawns, this means that the enemy doesn’t always spawn. Luckily there are save points nearby that allow you to ‘Save&Quit’ and then load in the map again. This way you can easily farm these rare enemies because they have some badass legendary items.

Rare Enemy Spawn Locations in DLC#2

There are 4 Rare Enemy Spawns, however, you only need to travel to these 3 locations on the planet Xylourgos.

1. Cursehaven – Amach

Amach can be found in Cursehaven he is an easy farm as he is located at the beginning of the map. I like to use the ‘Olmstead Square‘ Fast Travel Station and then make my way to ‘Lantern’s Hook‘. If you need ammo or farm the vending machine for that ‘Cloning Maddening Tracker’ then that’s possible at this location. The walk from both spawn locations is about the same, however, I prefer ‘Olmstead Square‘ because of how you enter the fight. While Amach doesn’t always immediately spawn, you do have a clear view of his spawn location and haven’t walked halfway through a combat zone. This way you aren’t overwhelmed by all the enemies that have spawned in if Amach decides to show up. You can recognize Amach by his red portal that he spawns through.

Amach has 1 shield bar and 2 health bars. He often has 2 floating orbs ((eye) witnesses) by his side and occasionally takes hiding in a dark cloud. The other enemies in this area mostly have health bars and a few carry a shield. Therefore, I suggest you bring a solid shock and incendiary weapon. If you go down during this fight and you used the ‘Olmstead Square‘ Fast Travel Station, you can easily restock on ammo.

Amach has an increased chance of dropping the Unseen Threat. This Jakobs sniper rifle will ricochet 3 homing projectiles when you score a critical hit. The Unseen Threat is pretty Badass!

2. The Cankerwood – Fungal Gorger

Fungal Gorger can be found in The Cankerwood. Since there is only 1 Fast Travel Station on this map you have to walk “half-way” through the map. I recommend equipping a snowdrift artifact so you can swiftly make your way through the map. Once you reached Fungal Gorger’s location, you can easily farm him as there is a save station just before his spawn location. When you enter the combat area that’s just before Rare Spawn Location, go to the right and take the upper-level to quickly make your way through. Fungal Gorger spawns next to the big chest and the Echo Recording.

Fungal Gorger is one of those big enemies. He has 2 health bars and a big crit spot. There isn’t a lot of room for you to move around. What you can do is walk around the rock. Beware that some enemies from the previous combat zone are able to make their way near the Rare Spawn Location. Incendiary or other top gear will do the work during this fight.

Fungal Gorger has an increased chance of dropping the Mutant. This is a Jakobs Assault Rifle that fires a continuous laser beam.

3. Negul Neshai – Shiverous the Unscathed

Shiverous the Unscathed can be found in Negul Neshai. This Ice Dragon spawns near the beginning of the map therefore the walk isn’t that long. However, equipping a snowdrift artifact does let skip the combat zones leading up to the rare spawn location. You want to walk passed the spawn location at first as you can trigger a save station just ahead. If Shiverous the Unscathed doesn’t spawn, it’s a much shorter walk the next time around. In the spawn location, you want to climb to the upper level in this area and move to the edge of the cliff. If you move around the corner, you want to look in the sky for Shiverous the Unscathed. You first want to look if this rare enemy spawn appears before clearing out the area. If this icy dragon spawns he will continue to fly around the combat zone. You can clear the combat zone without having to worry that he will fly off.

Shiverous the Unscathed is an Ice Dragon and has 1 big health bar. As he flies around the combat zone he occasionally dives towards you and will attack you with his freezing breath. During these dives, you have a good opportunity to attack him head-on. Because Shiverous the Unscathed moves pretty fast, I don’t recommend slow-moving projectiles unless he clearly flies into them.

Shiverous the Unscathed has an increased chance of dropping the Hydrafrost. This is a COV pistol that deals 200% elemental damage on every 2nd shot after you have killed a target. The elemental damage can be either shock or incendiary and the damage will last for 6 seconds.

4. Negul Neshai – Voltborn

Voltborn can also be found in Negul Neshai. This is one of those enemies that summons ghost versions of himself. The twist is that Voltborn can also turn invisible. For this Rare enemy, you will have to travel passed Shiverous the Unscathed location. You will have to run towards the area where you had to activate that giant turret. If you want to farm Voltborn the easy way, I suggest you walk a bit further and go into the next area. If you go through the hole in the wall that the turret broke, you will find a save station. Now it’s short run back to the rare spawn location, instead of having to climb up the mountain again and going through the base.

Voltborn has 3 shield bars. When he spawns in, he is still visible. Voltborn will quickly go into hiding and summon ghostly copies of himself. Your main target will sit back and let his minions do the work. These ghostly copies will leave a trail of shock damage in their path. On that note, the whole combat zone that you are fighting him in is crawling with shock based enemies. So for Voltburn and his minions you want to use shock weapons. However, for the other enemies in this area, you want to avoid that. So bring incendiary, corrosive, and shock weapons to this fight. But a badass Vault Hunter like you probably has at least 1 item of each element ready to go.

Voltborn has an increased chance of dropping the Shocker. This is a Torgue shotgun that works similarly to The Lob but can only spawn with the shock element. That said, the projectile speed of the Shocker is a lot faster than the orbs of the Lob.

Legendary Loot

These rare enemies all have a unique legendary weapon assigned to them. They also have a good chance of dropping the other Guns, LOVE, and Tentacles Legendary Loot. However, since they are rare spawns and pretty tough enemies to fight, there is a better legendary farm location in DLC 2.

    • Lexi Baldauf oke, I know in the main game they changed the rare spawn to a guaranteed spawn. But in this dlc, they aren’t guaranteed for me on PC (hotfix enabled)
