Arms Race is part of The Designer’s Cut (DLC5) and adds a new stand-alone game mode to Borderlands 3. DLC5 can be purchased individually or as part of the Second Season Pass. Arms Race is a Battle Royale-inspired game mode where you drop onto a map without any gear or skills and must collect loot while surviving the badlands. While undergoing this 1-life challenge run, Axton and Salvador will provide commentary to the game. In this Borderlands 3 guide, I will tell you how to get started with this fun and challenging new game mode; Arms Race!

Getting Started
How to Start Arms Race
- Fast Travel to Sanctuary 3
- Pick up the quest from the Arms Race poster
You can find the Arms Race poster across the hallway from the Lost Loot Machine.
- Fast Travel to ‘Stormblind Complex‘ on Pandora
The new location is now directly accessible through the fast travel network. You don’t need to fly the spaceship halfway across the galaxy and launch a drop pod.
- Activate the Portal
Walk through the hallway and flip 3 switches in the control room to activate the portal. Step into the sphere to dive into the Arms Race arena.
- Jump in the portal
Once you jump through the Portal the Arms Race will begin. Remember there is always a white starter chest near the dropzone.

You need to have access to Sanctuary III before you can access Arms Race. Your character will be around LVL 13 when you reach this point in the game. You can also skip the prologue of Borderlands 3 by creating an LVL13 character.
