For this dying light wallpaper i got challenged by a community member. When he started looking for wallpapers of his favorite game of the moment he only found wallpapers that represent the boxart of dying light.In his opinion all those dying light wallpapers were lacking color. So he contacted me about making a colorful wallpaper of the game. I had to think out this one for a little while, because dying light is a survival game filled with infected/zombies. Indeed all the artwork of this game is dark and grimy and is presented with a bit of horror style. So how to take this presented style and turn it into something colorful. It isn’t that the game is filled with rainbows and clowns.
So i started looking at the artwork and what i had and what i could work with. Then it occurred to me that you could see dying light as a fading sun at sunset. This turns the sky orange, this got me my bright happy color. Then i layered some of the black and white artwork on top of this base color.This the burned effect you also turn the orange into red. This adds to the contrast, but also suits with a bloody horror theme. With some other patterns i added some more texture and depth to the wallpaper. The familiar face from the boxart got the dodge effect changing the orange into yellow. This to accompany the bright sun that’s about to fade.
